Ziggy seemed to miss me yesterday; he sure was happy that I came home. He was whining for me to hold him at about 8:00 last night. Guess he has adopted our early bedtime too. So cute and so funny. Just keeping my fingers crossed that he will stop peeing in the house.
Called my friend, Bob, and asked about carpet cleaning services. I need to get the carpet cleaned at home before the fall. Problem is, no money to do it. So, he graciously is doing it free of charge. This means that I MUST make a scrapbook for him and his family in lieu of payment. How nice is that? Guess that means a card too. *smiling*
Been trying to use up my paper scraps so that I can clear out the drawer and make room for more scraps. But seriously, I have tons of paper scraps to use up and cards are always needed. I will make some bookmarks and use some for the scrapbook I intend to make for Bob.
It is my boss's birthday tomorrow. I have to make him a card as well. Lots to do in the coming days. He is out of town this week, so no hurry. But, since I have some made up, I'll grab him one of the more masculine looking ones and call it a day.
Still upset that I can't get the campground, but nothing can be done. Better plan further in advance for the next time.

My mother just confimed that she will NOT be attending Cody's birthday party. I believe that this is the 3rd one she has missed. Supposedly, they have had plans to attend a family reunion for a month; odd thing is, this is the first that I have heard about it. I have been down there a few times and not one single person mentioned it to me. Oh well, he'll still have fun. I think that we are postponing the party for Jason and Charlie to the following weekend. Need to make the calls so that everyone knows.
Have to go get school supplies in the coming days. The first day of school is the 2nd of August; too soon in my opinion, but who am I??! I am excited about it on one hand however; back to the classroom- back to learning! I have heard great things about his teacher, so I have high hopes for a great year.

We took Ziggy to the vet yesterday to get his first round of shots. He did great; no yelping or barking during the exam or shot. However, he did bark incessantly at a large dog in the waiting room once we were finished. It was hilarious! For being so brave, I bought him a stuffed animal to use as a chew toy; he loves that thing and has played with it almost non-stop.
Duke started his new job Friday night. Lost his cell phone that night too. It sucks! But, he called to have it cancelled so he isn't charged for anything. We'll see if he gets another one or not.
I have a ton of laundry to do today and I still need to clean. Maybe once Duke wakes up I can get the cleaning of the bathroom done and I won't need to get back in there. I'd like to get the carpet cleaned before the weather starts to change, it sure needs it.

I am thinking of getting a perm for some curls. Not sure at this point, but it is something I will consider as an option.
Got one of the books I am making for Jason's birthday ready, gotta finish the second one. Hopefully, he will like them and use them. He and Tina both liked the altered lunch tin I made for Tina's birthday.
School starts in a few more weeks. Cody is getting excited and dreading it at the same time. I am looking forward to a new learning process and the hopes of him becoming totally academic and excited about reading. He can just about read the program guide on TV, but I think some of it is more repetition than actual reading.
The birthday party is going to be the 11th at the campground, I believe from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. That should be enough time.

Duke has an interview today for a job in Gatlinburg. Hope he does well and is offered the position. He is depressed not having a job and having money to spend. I know how hard it is to be without work and not feeling productive.
Getting ready to send invites to the family and friends for the shindig for all the birthdays we have in August. I was going to make them, but I think it will be easier to buy a small pack. People just throw them away, I don't want to spend the time or the money on something that they will not keep.
We are enjoying our new puppy, Scooter. Not sure if we are keeping that name, but so far that's what we have been calling him. He is a pure bred Mini Pinscher and he is tiny. Bad thing is, he needs to be potty trained, and you know how my patience is.

Made chicken fried rice again, it was good but not as flavorful as last time. Guess I tried to make too much at once.
We have decided to have Cody's birthday party at the Cosby Campground. Oh, we saw a bear there on Friday. COOL!
Friday, July 20, 2007
Made chicken fried rice last night to rave reviews. It was my first attempt and I'd have to say I was darn successful. I kept joking that I was "part Chinese." Cute, right? HAHAHA Duke ate the majority of it and is claiming that he wants more tonight for dinner. Guess he's on his own since I have to take the boy to a birthday party. His best friend, Luther, is having a party at the Cosby Campground. I sure hope I fit in since I have only spoken with his family a few times, but have never spent any time with them. Just taking a small gift and a card that I made using one of the files that I downloaded from HERE.
Getting ready to pack up my office once again for a move. I hate packing, but hate unpacking even more. But, we may not have to move again until October. Nice, but we will be crammed in like sardines in the meantime. Ah, such is life.
We thought we got the AC fixed last night, but Duke doesn't think it is. Who knows what is going on with it. It just keeps running even though it is set pretty high. Can't figure it out.
Hope the weekend allows me to clean and to relax. I have not done any laundry all week, so I know I'll be swamped with that. But, I want to give the house a good "once over" to assure that I dont have to kill myself getting it clean for the events we have planned over the next few weeks. We'll see how it goes, however.

The phone just won't stop ringing at work. It's craziness. It will inevitably happen though, I am here alone, so it is bound to be busy. Better to be busy, right? It does make the day go by much faster.
Duke is still deciding which job he should take. Guess we can't really be picky right now, but it'd be nice if he didn't have to work evenings much; especially on the weekends since that's the only time that I have off.
Gotta pick beans tonight if it doesn't rain. I'm afraid they'll rot on the vines; can't have that happen since they were given to us so generously. Gotta do something with them.
I'd really like to get the house "super" clean this weekend. We'll be having bithday parties in the next few weeks and the house isn't presentable. Just gotta clean and get things in their correct place. Hoping I can do it in the next few weekends.

I am hoping the Duke has the A/C working by the time I get home. Don't know what in the world he has done to it, but thank heavens it is cool enough outside to cool the house with the doors and windows open. In fact, last night it was just perfect in the house.
Gotta get scrapbooking; too far behind. The printer I have may have bitten the dust with the power surge we had a while back. If that is the case, then I need to start looking for another printer because I do alot of home printing. Crossing my fingers that it doesn't have to be replaced. I managed to get all my pictures and other files off the computer to make it run a bit faster, but I need to check to see if this handled the printer issue. Maybe tonight.
Duke has had a few job offers and he is contemplating one in which he will cook. He loves to cook, so this will be perfect for him. Only issue is that he'll have to adjust his sleep schedule to accommodate waking by 4:00 am. It'll be great to have him home by the time the bus will run with Cody. I hope he gets it and that he likes it.

This is a layout I did featuring my nephew, Dakota. His team went undefeated this year and we are excited for him. Isn't he a cutie pie?
This is a card I made for my neighbors. It scored us some green beans, which we have canned already and some more we need to pick. It's great to have extra special neighbors you can call your friend. I need to post a pic of the green beans, they are still sitting on the countertop. I need to make some space for them but I have been too lazy.
Wore my hair down today, it is on my nerves. Hope I can think of a way to keep it off my face so that I can let it grow out. Gonna browse the internet for some styling options.

Got started canning beans first thing this morning. As I type, there are seven more jars in the pressure canner cooling. I hope to hear jar lids popping soon. I left for the parties after packing about 10 jars. Duke got another 11 done after I left. Feel bad leaving him, but gotta be social.
A fella that I work with died in a car accident last night. Very sad that he left a family behind in such a tragic way. I believe that he was drinking heavily and made the mistake of getting behind the wheel. It is too bad that hard lessons must be learned this way; but hopefully, this tragedy will save someone else's life. I pray for his family.
Got to see my nephews today too, at my niece's party. It was nice because I haven't seen them in some time. Both are so handsome and are growing like weeds. It's hard to believe sometimes that they have grown so big and older. Why can't they just stay the age you remember them?
Friday, July 13, 2007
We get to can our green beans on Saturday too. I have to remember to get the canning salt and the lids/ rims. Should be interesting. Hope we can get the rest of the beans broke tonight since we didn't do it last night.
I am hoping to get some scrapbooking done this weekend too. I am so far behind, it seems like there is never enough time. But, it may have to wait as I am sure that my desktop computer is about to crash. It won't keep my printer and WB loaded and it is not shutting down with the shut down command. Hopefully, I can get all my files off it before it happens. Maybe that will help it too; it is after all almost 5 years old.

We have to break the last 1/2 tonight when I get home. Then I have to start working on Veronica's birthday surprise; but only if we go to the party. So far, I have heard that they are having a party, but have not actually received a call or an invite...so we will see! Lately, I'm feeling a bit alienated from my family, partly my own doing, but it would still be nice if someone communicated with me. Seems like I have to be the one that calls or emails, or no one would communicate with me at all. I don't like it. It feels as though they are trying to get rid of me and I just keep coming back; maybe I shoud just take the hint, huh?
Gotta do something with my hair, it's getting on my last nerve. I really need to color it, maybe if I do that I can make it a little longer.

I made a card for our neighbors on Sunday. The card was to tell them they had a beautiful garden and that we were totally jealous since we can't grow anything on our land. Of course, it was also a shameless ploy to get them to share with us. Last night, they were in the garden as I was going up my driveway; they motioned for me to stop and offered two rows of green beans to us. I was so excited!!! Fresh green beans is about the best it can get. I went home to tell Duke and he was so embarrassed that he wouldn't go down there to pick them. Cody and I went and ended up with 8 gallons. Duke and his brother are going to can them on Saturday. In any case, they told us to come back some time next week and we could have some more beans and possibly some tomatoes and cucumbers. I am psyched! Also, when I told them that we'd rent some ground for a garden from them, they offered us a small plot for nothing. They are such good neighbors. They also have a 4-wheel drive tractor and are going to fix our road before winter. I have just got to do something nice for them for all their generosity.
My hair has a mind of its own today, and I'm somewhat embarassed about it. I really need to get it cut, but I'm trying to let it grow out a bit.
I'll try to post some pics over the weekend, we have to events to go to. I know I'll be running all day Saturday. Who knew that having a kid increased your social life??

Nice and quiet again at work. It's nice! Especially since Wendi has been sick for the past few days. I got caught up on my filing and got my letters out. YIPPEE!
Cody must have called me four or five times yesterday. So cute! I think it's wonderful that he is branching out and embracing the different types of communication available.
The remote for our satellite went kaput yesterday. Guess I'll have to look into getting a new one. I wonder what is happening to our technological stuff. First a spare TV and now the remote, this sucks!
Trying to get some paper ideas ready for the scrapbook for my niece. I think I'm doing a word book that spells her name. I'm sure she'll like it; she likes to do crafts. I still don't know how I will be able to make two pool parties on the same day, but I have to. Cody's T-ball banquet and Veronica's party. I got the coaches albums done and will now have to focus on the word book for Priss.
My back is still hurting from cleaning out the cars a couple weeks ago. I don't know what I did to it, but it can hurt like a bugger when I move wrong. MAN!
Monday, July 9, 2007
Saw my 2 favorite aunties yesterday too. Haven't been able to spend much time with them over the past few years, so it's nice to catch up. They are both such lovely people and I am lucky that I have them. My aunt, Joyce, got to meet Cody for the first time yesterday; it was nice to show him off.
I made a card for our neighbors yesterday too! Shamelessly it was designed to "entice" them to share their gorgeous garden bounty with us. I am so jealous; their garden is beautiful and I have to look at it every time I go in or out of the house. We cannot get anything to grow on our land. We have tried everything too! Maybe I'll get lucky and they feel sorry for us. In any case, they are lovely people and we are lucky to have them as neighbors. We all look out for one another.
Nice and quiet at work today, hope it stays that way. I really had a hard time getting out of bed this morning. I feel super tired. I think it is because I have changed the way that I eat. I was snacking throughout the day and now I just eat at meal time. Gotta switch back to regain some energy.
Saturday, July 7, 2007
Duke has to mow a friend's yard today. And then he's off to Bristol for a car show. He went to one last year, but it was not in Tennessee. He loves those things, I don't understand it. Hope he has fun!
Not an eventful weekend, hope to get the housework done and then take it easy for the rest of the time. I'm sure it won't work out that way, but those are my intentions.
Gotta get myself ready to go to the grocery store.
Friday, July 6, 2007
Duke talked to an old friend of his last night; hasn't spoken to him in over 10 years. His oldest just graduated high school and we got an invite. It was the perfect opportunity to give them our number and we crossed our fingers they'd call. Guess we're gonna try to meet up in the next month or so. Should be fun!
I think Cody's friend was coming over today. Duke was to take them swimming at the pool near our house. Should be interesting! I'll have to see how it went when I get home.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Thursday, July 5, 2007
We went to dinner last night with some friends from Florida. They were in attending a funeral and found some time to spend with us. It was fun! I enjoy their company, they are lovely people. Duke has known him for over 50 years. He has such long friendships, I envy it. Seems like whenever I get a friend, we drift apart, they move away, or they never really were my friend to begin with.
I got the coaches albums done and will be glad to give them out on the 14th at thebanquet. That is also my niece's birthday and I am sure I will have to miss either one or the other. I have to get started on a gift for her, a scrapbook, of course.
We weren't able to get to sleep until after midnight; all the neighbors were shooting fireworks until those wee hours. It seemed like they were doing it right in our back yard. Guess it was the echoing through the woods. Too bad we couldn't see them from the house.
Duke is still in pain from helping Jason with his shed. Bet it takes a few more days to recover. It's hell to get old!
Tuesday, July 3, 2007
He was planning to go help Jason today, but he doesn't have the key to unlock the doors on the red car, so he can't get to the trailer. He's not happy. I should have taken the keys off my keychain, but I haven't yet. He may end up going tomorrow.
I have the day off tomorrow...yippee! I will be heading to the grocery store first thing in the morning to avoid some of the crowds and the drunk drivers. It scares me that people drive under the influence. I think we all have at one time in our life, but it is soooo dangerous. I would NEVER do it now. Guess that's called maturity and motherhood.
Hope the day goes by quickly today, I am ready for the extra day off. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July!
Monday, July 2, 2007
Cody's friend, Luther, came over for a couple of hours today. I guess they played some games on the gamecube and played outside. I hope they both had a good time.
The banquet for T-ball is July 14th. I'm so glad we have one last chance to see the whole team since I don't have a single picture of the whole team together. I hope all the kiddies can make it. Should be fun! Now, I really have to get the coaches albums ready.
We had dinner at Duke's sister's house yesterday. It was a good time. Maybe there is hope for them. Duke is going to help Jason move his shed tomorrow; he's not looking forward to it at all. Cody will spend time playing the Wii that Jason has. He still wants one so badly.
I need to call my friend, Jenn, and my sister tonight. Maybe now since I am thinking about it.
