So Tired

I came home from work totally exhausted. I haven't been sleeping well at all. Between the puppy and Cody, I don't think anyone could. I think it may be time for us to set up a room for the boy that he will actually sleep in. I have been making that last statement for about a year and I have yet to act on it. Maybe this time.
I found out last night that a friend of our family is in a coma and is not expecting to survive. In fact, her daughter is coming in from Washington state to make the decision of life support. The doctors are not optimistic of her outcome. I don't even know what happened to cause it as we haven't been able to get in touch with the family. In any case, I am sure that we will get a call within the next few days. Man, I really am not wanting to attend the funeral of someone so young and full of life. It has barely been a month that the fella that I worked with died in a car accident after work; I wasn't expecting another friend and colleague to die. My thoughts are with her family, of course, and I hope they have the strength to get through this terrible situation. It's hard to make sense of these things sometimes, but God has a plan.
I've been trying to create something every night when I come home, but the last few nights I have been quite lazy and just become a couch potato. I have been stalking quite a few blogs when I can and have some great ideas...just no energy to carry them out. Maybe I'll be able to get tons done this weekend. **crossing fingers**
Cody has Friday and Monday off from school for Labor Day. He is totally excited and I hope that I can think of enough things to keep him busy. I have to work Monday, so he'll be going over to a friend's house until I get home from work on Monday. I hate the traffic on holidays, especially in the touristy area that I work in. I just wish they would give me the day off with holiday pay, I have been there long enough; it's a small company and they just can't afford it.
The On Cosby Festival is in October and I am hoping to have a booth with lots of papercrafts ready to go. We shall see. It's one of the reasons that I want to create something every night, maybe I won't have to rush when the time comes. Wendi is still taking tons of pics from her garden with her super duper camera. We will be selling those in frames at this festival. Thank heavens this is an artsy community and things like that are popular. There are a few of them that I am totally in love with.
It's definitely time to go to bed.

Weird Wednesday

It has been quite a strange week to say the least. Everything and everyone seems to be a bit wonky. I don't think that's an actual word, but it is the necessary word.
I made a card for Duke's aunt. She was having heart troubles last month and is recovering in Ohio with her son and his family. On top of that the poor thing was having a horrible reaction to the meds and it made everything worse. Here is the card. I used my Pearl Ex for the first time and really liked the result. I'm using a stencil brush to apply it, not sure the brush needs to be so stiff, but it worked. I made a slit in the crease of the card so that I could thread the sheer ribbon through it. Oh, and I rounded the corners. I sure hope she likes it and that it lifts her spirits some. I also sent a bunch more people some cards that I had made up from scraps. Didn't take the time to photograph those.
I'm really upset that my camera is taking less than desirable pictures these days. They all seem to be blurry for some reason. Maybe I just need to clean the lens or something. It's not very old, but such as it is, it'll most likely be cheaper to replace it than repair it. It'll have to wait, not enough in the budget for a new camera right now. Maybe soon!
I hope to be getting the dogs to the "Vet Workshops" for their rabies vaccinations this weekend. They offer them at a reduced price and at various locations and one is at Cody's school on Saturday. I tried this last year, and so did everyone else in this county. I'll try again this year, nothing to lose, right??? Well, maybe just my mind and patience.
Cody brought home a straight A 3-Progress Report from 1st grade. I am so happy and proud pf him. He got 2 A+'s. I gave him a "high five" and praised him for an hour. Of course, he has another three weeks before grade cards are given out, but I believe that the praise and encouragement that he receives from home will keep him motivated in class. He just loves his teacher too, so that helps. I totally love that he is as into school as I was. **Hope he stays that way for a long while.**
I really wanna get my hair cut, but have yet to find a cut that appeals to me. I want something easy and manageable, but stylish too. Any ideas???

Super Sunday

Well, maybe not. I am feeling lazy and am not sure that I will be getting much done today, but who knows what an hour will bring. I definitely have tons of laundry to do, I have no idea where it all comes from.

I made a few cards last night. I needed to make at least two Thank You cards for Wendi and Misty for accompanying me to the Stamp-A-Stack workshop yesterday. I know they enjoyed it as much as I did.

On these cards, I stamped the images and then colored them in with colored pencils. I covered the cards base with patterned paper and then tried my best to tie a great bow; still need to practice that! I crimped the brown cardstock. I think they will like them.

The card base is covered with patterned paper and then a strip of texured cardstock is inked and a ribbon tied to it. The scallop circle was cut with my WB and I used pop dots to mount it.

Today is a day for cleaning and hopefully I can create in between the tasks. Cross your fingers.

Stamping Saturday

We had a great time today at the Stamp-a-Stack Workshop. Cody behaved just as I instructed and he was rewarded accordingly. I also stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked up some paper, I love paper. I will be trying to get some stamping done this evening and tomorrow.

I RAK'd a little Changito monkey stamp to Charith on one of the MB I belong to. She loved it and has already used it. I love it! Hopefully she will get tons of use from it.

I helped Wendi use the Cricut, my hurried instructions a few months ago ha not made its way into the gray matter, I suppose. HAHAHA In any case, it didn't take long to show her and I enjoyed spending time away from work with her. We are going to be making the office Christmas cards this year, so we will be planning the schematic soon. I think it is a great idea and cannot wait to get startd.

Duke will be going to work early tonight for additional training on the C/I and C/O procedure so that he can better decipher the audit trail. Crossing my fingers that this helps him some, he has been struggling to understand it.

I believe that I will be taking Cody swimming tomorrow as I am sure that it will be super hot and we'll get out of the house so that Duke can get a bit of sleep.

Oh, Cody had his very first spelling test on Thursday and he passed with 100%. Actually, the pretest was Thursday and if they passed with 100% they did not have to take the test again on Friday. I am so proud of him!!

Woo Hoo, I Won Blog Candy

I went through all the blogs that I visit for inspiration these days and I saw my name as the winner of blog candy from Creations by Corie. She does great work and I can hardly wait to get some time to create. If you have time, you need to visit her blog, you can't help but be awed.

Ok, so I do this blog mostly to keep my family up to date and as a journal of my life, boring as it is. From time to time I post creations or pictures and I hope to grow as a paper enthusiast and begin to be an inspiration to others.

I will be adding more sites to my blogroll as soon as time allows, there are plenty of talented ladies out there and I have so much to learn. In any case, visit as many of these ladies as you can and leave comments praising their work if you find as much of as inspiration as I do. Someday I might be that good, right??

Blessed A Latte': Blog Candy

Please visit this blog for the opportunity to win BIG. This lady is super creative and is an inspiration.

Art Projects

It has been such a time that I have posted anything. I just haven't been into it. Cody and I have been trying to make a few art projects after work and school. He has really shined in the painting arena and I may start encouraging him to do more. He has exceptional control and concentration. I was very impressed with his skill. Here is the picture of him with his completed project. Here is the picture of another project I did. They are like the sour cream packets you get at a fast food restaurant. So quick, easy, and cute. I will be making these for Cody's class at Halloween. It will be even more adorable with the holiday paper.

Wendi and I have decided to get a booth at the On Cosby Festival in October and do our best to sell cards and other small crafts. She has a great camera and has been taking pictures of the wildlife and florals around her. I am envious of the camera quality, it is just fabulous. You can see every little thing, just amazing. I hope that we can get a booth and it doesn't cost a fortune. Then I hope that we sell everything that we take. Her daughters will be helping with the process as well. I'm crossing my fingers.

Here are pictures of some birthday cards I have made in the past week. I got the cute little monkey stamp from Hobby Lobby, and I just love him. I hope to get cracking on the cards once I know for sure we have a space. Shouldn't be too difficult, the only real issue will be pricing. Gotta make sure we are fair while still making money on our wares. I am very excited about this prospect.

What a Few Days

I have been on pins and needles for the past few days; biting everyone's head off and generally being a big butt. I hate it, and I don't know what has caused it. I am feeling a bit better today, so hoping it has passed.

Here is a picture of Ziggy, the newest addition to our family. I am not sure that we are a fan of the breed (they are hard to train), but he is quite lovable and seems to have really taken a liking to Cody. He whines and cries for the boy like a small child. It is so cute. Last night he decided to chase the car down the driveway, so we have to find a solution for that. Seems that every dog we get that happens to explore winds up getting stolen. We definitely don't want him to get stolen or killed, so we have decided to "chain" him on our property. Only until Duke gets home in the mornings. Just too risky to leave him.

Cody made the cutest statement last night. He, of course, realizes that Christmas is coming and in an effort to get everything on his list, has decided that he needs to be Santa's personal assistant. Too bad he doesn't know that Mom and Dad are Santa. But, he said he'd do dishes and laundry, among other chores so that he gets everything on his list. It was so cute and I did great not laughing at him. Again I say, "what a con man."

A Wet Weekend

We had a successful pool party yesterday. All the kids had tons of fun and didn't want to go home. Man, I was tired after it all was over. I'm not sure that I will have an "off-site" party again. It's too much work to pack it, unpack, then pack and unpack it. My neck and back are just killing me today. We were supposed to go to Splash Country today, but Steph is sick and I just bailed. Too tired and it will be too hot.

Today I plan to use the embossing folders that I have seen on all the blogs that I have been frequenting. I am hoping they work well in the die cutting machine that I have. The impressions seem to be so deep and detailed; hope they are for me too. They sure put a professional and artistic touch on everything.

I may take the boy swimming again today. He went to the deep side with no swimmies yesterday and did great. Of course, he got in trouble because he did not ask and we were clear across the other side and couldn't have helped him if he got stuck. But, I must say that for every moment that I was scared, I was also very proud. He has learned to swim without swimmies all by himself; he is brave too when it comes to doing tricks in the water- he jumps in and does spins, swims under water, and of course, his "candy balls". I smiled to myself as I watched him venture on his own; he was quite proud of himself too.

Bet it will be a pretty busy day tomorrow at work. Wendi has been gone this week and so much has happened. Hope all goes well.

A Few Pictures

I took a few pictures of Cody with Ziggy. Ziggy fell asleep on his lap and we could not get him to move so that Cody could go to bed. Well, Cody had been swimming earlier in the day and got tons of chlorine in his eyes. Well, since the chlorine dres them out, he started rubbing them profusely. Needless to say, his eyes looked horrible. I did not realize how horrible until I took these pictures. Looks like he got in a fight and LOST! My poor baby. This prompted us to get some swim goggles so it doesn't happen again, but you know how kids are.

I did a bit of scrapbooking over the weekend. I am so far behind, but I thought I would prepare some pages for the parties we will be having over the next couple weekends. So, here they are. The first one is for Cody. And the second one is for the parties.
I am hoping the the Stampin' Up catalog has arrived at the house today. I can hardly wait to thumb through the book searching for inspiration. I have been perusing may blogs that feature the Stampin' Up stamps and papers and they are just divine. Hope I can hone my skills and become a better paper crafter. I want my stuff to look very professional. We shall see.
Cody's school bus was in an accident yesterday. Thank heavens Cody went home with the granddaughter of a friend of ours, so he wasn't on it. I guess a few of the kids have minor injuries, thankfully nothing worse. You have to thank God for that. Quite a scary sight when you have a child that has to ride the bus. I didn't go to the Open House last night, it was about three hours long and I was hurting so bad that I knew that I wouldn't be able to stand it.
I had hoped that my parents would call Cody on his birthday, but alas, NO. Not to complain, and this is the last time I will even mention them, but if it were the birthday of one of their favorite grandchildren not only would he have received a call, he might have received more than the $40.00 they sent him for his birthday. Talk about unfair. I know for a fact that they spent way more than that on the three favorite grandchildren for each of their birthdays! Wonder why they think my child deserves less?! I am done worrying about it and have vowed to stop trying to get them to love him. I will not communicate with them any longer. I just pray each night that God will make them see the light and change their ways. In any case, I just can't do this anymore.

Birthday Boy

So, Cody's birthday has come and gone. He was thrilled when he woke up. He started measuring himself and imagining all the ways that he could be different, because he is SIX. It's a magic number to him; it means that he is grown up and he is a man. You have to wonder where all the "miscommunications" come from, but I love these ideas of his as to what makes an adult.

Had to make out a few more invites to his party this weekend. He forgot a few of the kids from class that he wanted to invite. I hope several of them attend, it would be great for him. Of course, he is pretty popular so we might get lucky.

I have not been sleeping well over the past few nights. As I type, I am exhausted. Maybe I'll head to be super early and get a great night's sleep.

I have been checking out a few blogs regarding stamping and scrapbooking. I get totally engrossed in them and they have been offering me inspiration and ideas. It's great. I sure would like to craft full-time, but there are no guarantees that way. In any case, the ladies that run these blogs are so talented and I aspire to be as creative as they are. I plan to participate in some of the challenges and hopefully, this will help me make my work more professional looking. I certainly hope so.

Upcoming Events

Ok, so it's my boy's birthday tomorrow. He is excited as ever to be six. Some of the kids in his class already are and his is happy to make the announcement that he has only one more day of being 5. It is so cute to hear him talk about it in the manner that he does.

I have to get ready for the big party this weekend. We ar having it at a nearby hotel's pool. He can hardly wait. Just having snacks for the most part so it will be less maintenance for me. Not having it at home in itself less maintenance.

I made a few scrapbook pages over the weeekend. I thought I saved them to my jump drive, but apparently not. When I went to post them, they were not there. Maybe tomorrow. We shall see.

Got the school supplies that were needed and hope that it will be enough to do him for the year. We had a tax free weekend here so I was a able to save some money on them.

We then have to get ready for a party the following weekend for the bigger son and Charlie. They have birthdays within days of one another, so this is just easier.

A Weekend of Running

Ok, so Cody and I couldn't sleep last night. I got up and started cutting files for some scrapbook pages and cards at 3:00 a.m. Then, I heard what I thought was the puppy trying to open the door. In fact, it was Cody. All my fidgeting woke him up. We stayed up until about 6:45 a.m. I swept and mopped the kitchen floor, did two load of laundry, and finished my scrapbook page; just have to add pictures. Then, we got up for the day at 930 a.m. I swept and mopped the bathrooms and folded a load of laundry. Don't know where the energy is coming from, but it's nice to be getting things done.

Had to do the school shopping today. Wal-Mart was absolutely, insanely crowded. I tell you, the crowds can test your patience and tolerance. I don't know why people insist upon blocking the aisles when they browse. And then, they pretend that they don't see you and therefore, don't attempt to get out of your way. Can you have road rage when you aren't on the road??? In any case, Cody has all his supplies and I even picked up an extra box of crayons and bottle of glue to donate to a child that may not be able to afford it. Hopefully, someone could use it.

Spent an astronomical amount of money on groceries today. Hope this means that I don't have to go back for a week or two. I hate getting that many groceries because of all the work involved in it. You have to handle the food five times by the time it is in the cabinets. Hate it!

I read on one of the free cutting file blogs that I frequent that someone had the audacity to distribute the file to a message group. It is called piracy and is so wrong on so many levels. You wonder how people like this sleep at night. What can be done about it? I sure hope she doesn't stop offering free files, it's not fair to those of us who respect her TOU; but she's got to protect her designs and I would certainly understand if that is what she decides. It's a shame that this crap still happens. Respect, people, respect!

I am thinking of taking Cody to Dollywood tomorrow for his birthday. I got two free tickets and I may as well use them. I have been trying to reach my sister to see when she was planning to go so that we could join them. It'd be nice to be able to walk and talk with someone for the day. I am sure Cody will love it; the rides, the water, the fun. I hate the crowds, but you do what you gotta do to make the kiddies happy, right?! His birthday is Tuesday, he'll be 6; he is excited.

What a Week

I have called and called and finally found a place to have the birthday party. Duke wants to have it somewhere else, so we are checking there too. As it turns out, it will be cheaper to have it at Fox Den pool. They have a pavillion for the party itself, and the kiddies can swim. Yippee! Should be fun for all. Now, let's cross our fingers that some kids show up.

Been making little cards with all my paper scraps. I've used one of my small lunch tins to store them. I'll decorate it soon too. But, it feels good to have lightened the paper load a bit. Still have some left, but near as much AND I'll have a little note card to send out when I need it.

I have been talking to my sister; it's nice. We go through spurts of communication, but I hope this time we don't go so long without talking. She is finally divorced after way too many years. I hope she doesn't jump into another marriage, but I have a feeling she will. What to do with her?

It should be a pretty quiet weekend, not too much to do except laundry and grocery shopping. Seems like I never get the laundry done no matter how much I do.

Cody's first day of first grade was today. When I came home, he told me that "FIRST GRADE IS GREAT!" I hope he continues this enthusiasm for the rest of the school year. I think the teacher will be great, I have heard good things about her. We shall see.

The adjustment to Duke's new job have been shaky at best. I hate the new schedule, but it is a job that he doesn't have major physical exertion, so we are trying to work it out. I think with Cody in school, it will be much better; he'll at least be able to sleep during the day. If not, I may have to get a divorce as he will be way too cranky to deal with. (just kidding about the divorce, but he has been a bear over the past week.)

We have a bird that has built a nest AND laid some eggs. FINALLY, a resident in one of the birdhouses that Duke built. It has been about three years that he built them, and a family has finally found it acceptable enough to move in. We have had several birds be interested and look at them, but they snarled their noses up at them and made their nest somewhere else. Maybe this family had to "settle", but we are happy they did. Love it!

Will try to upload pics of the cards that I made. I must warn you that they are quite plain, I may dress them up later.
