More Beautiful Blooms

I have used this set yet again for this card. The dp is K & Co. Berry Sweet; I have paired it with SU! Chocolate Chip, PTI Aqua Mist, and PTI Berry Sweet cardstock. The twill ribbon is PTI Lemon Tart. This is the same color combo as in the post from a few days ago, I just threw in some dp and different ribbon.

The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set, not sure the name of it. I gotta start writing this stuff down.

Wouldn't you know, Cody has a bad cough and he's just days away from not only his birthday party, but the first day of school and his actual brthday. Hope we can rid him of it before any of these festivities.

The RSVP's for the party are starting to come in and I am hoping for a full 10 kids for the day. You pay the same price no matter what.

Floral Keychain

These are exactly like the refrigerator magnets, just a keychain. I made this using PTI Beautiful Blooms in Close to Cocoa and Regal Rose inks. The dp is from The Paper Studio and is adhered to a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.

Ok, so I wanted to blur the boy's hands and body from the photo but I don't know how. I experimented and added this recessed frame. I am hoping to acquire a manual for PSE 6 so I know how to use it. I totally need lessons! Anessa, hopefully you can help a girl out!! Anyone else with any ideas.

My step dad is feeling much better as reported by my aunt. She said he was out dictating to a construction crew helping him prepare some of his land for a building site. I will be going to visit him next week just to be on the safe side.

An Award and A Journey

My very talented blogging friend Lynn has passed this fun BFF Gold Card blogging award onto me and I feel so honored! Lynn has a great blog always full of inspiration.

The rules of this award:

1. Only 5 people allowed.
2. 4 have to be dedicated followers of your blog.
3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world.
4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award, quite simple really it is a way of saying thank you to those who take time out for wonderful comments to boost your day.

All these gals have impeccable and inspiring work and never fail to leave little bit of sunshine in my comments. Leave them a comment if you visit them. I truly appreciate every visit and kind word. Thanks!
This is the card I made to go with the coasters I posted yesterday. Cody got some ink on the sentiment and I ended up having to sponge it. I really have to learn how to use a light hand when I sponge, it doesn't look so good.

Glass Coasters

I found this set of coasters at Dollar General for $5.00 per set. I picked up two sets this time around and hope they still have some once I am able to go back. They are nice and heavy and have rubber grips on the bottom. Not sure how well they will absorb condensation, but they sure are pretty.

Each is different and I tried to match the coaster color. I used SU! and Palette inks and PTI Birds of a Feather.

I also made a matching card of sorts as these will be going to my boss and his wife for their 5th anniversary this Saturday. I am not sure of their style, but hope these will fit in their home somehow.

I was baking cookies yesterday, tripped over the rug and dropped the whole darn sheet pan full on the floor. Let me tell ya, it's a horrible sight! This just isn't going to be my week for cooking it seems.

A Few Fridge Magnets

I found these buried in a drawer while searching for something else. I think I was too excited to have found these that I forgot what I was looking for to begin with. They are fridge magnets, originally purchased with studio pictures of the boy. I also have a few key chains.
These are for a friend of mine's son and daughter. Her son recently celebrated a birthday and I didn't want her daughter to feel left out. She loves ladybugs and hope that she can use this magnet to hang some school work.

I used PTI Little Lady and Pink Cat Studios Billy. Billy is colored with copics. I used SU! inks for the ladybug magnet.

I managed to burn my big toe while grilling ribs yesterday. A pool of fat jumped out of the grill when I flipped the ribs and as luck would have it, landed on my big toe. It hurt like crazy, but I managed to get inside and place some toothpaste on it. The toothpaste helps draw out the heat and prevent it from blistering.

Belated Birthday Cards

Both cards are for ladies in the Birthday Club I am in. Hopefully, they will like what I have sent them.

I made these using Amy R's recent sketch #24. I used some K & Co. double sided papers, Berry Sweet. They have great designs and gorgeous colors.

The ice cream cones are from MFT, colored with copics. The scoops are popped up and I added JudiKins Diamond Glaze to them as well. The ladybug is from PTI, Little Lady.

Feel Better

This was made for my step-father who is very sick. He just got out of the hospital and may end up having to endure yet another back surgery. He suffers with back pain since an injury he endured many years ago. Plus, now he has prostate problems. My mother is not very supportive so my sister is going down to their home for the next few days to help him with his needs.
I used PTI Father Knows Best for this card, sentiment is from PTI Simple Little Things and Pond Life. I used SU! Old Olive and Close to Cocoa inks. You can see the piercing in between the sentiments and I picked up the ribbon on clearance at Wal-Mart.
Totally ready for the weekend! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Another Tilda

This is another of the images that the sweet Nicola sent to me; I just love them all and will be really sad when they are gone. Of course, with the number of them she sent, it could be a while. Thanks so much Nicola! The ribbon is a rich chocolate color, not sure why it is photographing black.

This card was based on a sketch from MFT, you can check Cindy Haffner's blog. She has lots of gorgeous cards.

My sitter was a no show on Tuesday, so Cody had to come to work with me. Since her family is visiting, I am not meeting her near home, but instead near work. Let me tell you that the idea of him being with me at work and as a new employee was a bit frightening, but I brought him with me so that I could make some calls for an alternate plan. My direct manager as well as the publisher were so gracious and told me he could stay for the whole day since they really needed me (things happen, it was no problem at all). They gave him a laptop, hooked him to the internet and he played computer games for the remainder of the day. He also assisted me with making press kits and getting work off the printer and to my manager's desk, etc. He did so well and I am soooo proud of him. He and I both got several comments about his good behavior and manners during that day as well as when I returned to work on Wednesday. I'm thinking about bringing cupcakes or something for the office since all of them really made me feel ok about having him there. Phew!!

And, Duke helped the Gatlinburg police with a burglary. Two fellas broke in and stole a cash register from a business, Duke witnessed the suspicious activity of two of his guests, and helped the police find the stolen register and the boys. Turns out that his guests had committed the crime and eventually confessed. I had to type his police statement on Tuesday night; it helps that he used to be in law enforcement. I am super proud of him too, but hope this doesn't spark some sort of desire to return to this line of work.

New Beginnings

Here are a few more cards using PTI Birds of a Feather. I also used a previous Mojo Monday sketch for these, I really like this layout. I can't seem to make cards without a sketch these days. I really need to find some more, anyone have any suggestions?
You can see the general differences in the cards, such as the sponging, different stamped left panel, ribbon, etc. I think the colors are soft and pretty and really compliment the sentiments.

Cody went swimming and got a pretty nasty sunburn on his face. Thankfully, it isn't hurting him at all; ya gotta love the healing powers of aloe.

Take Flight

More PTI Birds of a Feather and I believe I have at least two more posts using this set. Maybe I'll space them out so no one gets bored with them. I used PTI Guide Lines to make the background; I need some practice with it. My largest acrylic block doesn't have any lines, so it was difficult to line it up. I am hoping to get a few more PTI sets next month, I really love the Boards & Beams set as well as Floral Frenzy. Can't go wrong with flowers. Of course, by then they'll have released more sets and I'm betting that I'll have to have them. I sure do wish I could hit the "I Want It All" button every month, but I like to eat too! LOL

Cody will be joining me for lunch later in the week. He is dying to see where I work, and his sitter is staying in a cabin with her family this week, only a few miles from where I work. So, I have decided to invite him to lunch on either Thursday or Friday.

Life is a Journey

Made this with PTI Birds of a Feather. I am thinking that the dp, DCWV Nana's Kids, is a little too whimsical for this sentiment. Ah well, it's all together now.

I cut my hair yesterday. I tend to be extremely impatient and when my hair doesn't cooperate, I take matters into my own hands. It seems to be even and I hope I can live with it a while longer. I definitely need some hair color too!

Super Sweet Tilda

This is another of the images that Nicola sent to me. I used a water brush and SU! inks to color her. The images in the circle are from PTI Simple Little Things and the sentiment is from MFT.
Lazy day yesterday. However, today I must head to the grocery store and to pay some bills. Hopefully, I can get it done early enough to get home and craft some more.

The Gang at Smokies Stadium

I made this card earlier this afternoon. Bright and colorful, kinda the mood Cody is in today.
This is Cody and his team along with the coaches at our banquet on the 10th. Cody is in the back row, first one on the left. It was impossible to get them all looking foward and with a smile. Gotta do what you can! LOL
Congrats to Kim on her Pink Cat challenge! All the entries were amazing and I am so glad I participated. I'll have to use my points to get those accessories to Billy and Lily. Thanks for all the crossed fingers and happy thoughts.

My Billy Challenge Card

I made this for the challenge on the Pink Cat Studios blog. It was to use Pink Cat stamps, Billy and/or Lily in their room doing something. I chose Billy in his room jumping on a trampoline. I colored several of the accessories from Dress Up Billy and scattered them on the "floor", reminiscent of my son's room at any given moment in the day. I am pleased with the way it came out and surprised that it is almost exactly the idea I had in my head. So, just keep your fingers crossed for me.
We have booked the Party Room at Nascar Speedpark for Cody's birthday. We are all very excited. He starts school the week after the party, the day before his birthday. I can hardly believe it's only a few more weeks away. He's totally ready to get back to school though.
He and Duke are going swimming today, and maybe to get him a haircut.

Arrrgh Matey

Yep, another Billy card. This is for my sitter's youngest son, who has a birthday this week.

I got my Guest Designer Challenge card finished last night, keep your fingers crossed for me. I'd really like to win those stamps, they are awesome! It's no secret that I have had alot of fun making stuff with my Billy and Lily images. I'll post my challenge card tomorrow most likely.

Thanks Nicola

Thank you Nicola for all the sweet images and the great card. I was so excited to use the images that I made a card using one. I can hardly wait to use the rest of them. You are too sweet.

The dp is from DCWV Nana's kids.

Is anyone else having trouble viewing the images? When I uploaded them earlier this morning they looked fine.

Nurse Lily and Some Ice Cream

I found this sketch on Amy R's blog, I should have written down the number. Really easy and perfect for a medium sized image. Here I used a medium and a large size.

Lily is from Pink Cat Studio and the headless woman is from My Favorite Things. Both are colored with copics. The dp is DCWV Nana's Kids.

The office party was lots of fun and Barb loved everything I made her; she's gonna use them at home. I also ended up making her a bookmark with a jumbo paper clip. We also enjoyed an ice cream cake later in the afternoon. It was really hot yesterday, so it really hit the spot.

Work is still great, I am staying really busy which is wonderful. I tend to get bored easily if I am not challenged. I am still learning their software and have made some discoveries along the way.

Women of Life T-Shirt

Of course, this is for my co-worker for her birthday today. Hopefully, she'll like the theme of all the things that I made her.

I spent a little time in my craft space yesterday, it felt really good to sit down and create. I need to get busy creating my card for the Pink Cat Studio challenge. I have an idea, but I have to execute it before the 17th.

Birthday Gift Set

Here is a little gift set I made for my co-worker. I used an acrylic photo frame to hold the post-its and then made a matching beaded pen. I think she'll like it. I also made her a little something else that I will post tomorrow, I love that it is all matchy.

Saturday, July 12, 2008

A Birthday Cupcake Challenge

This is for my co-worker, her birthday is on Monday. We have already ordered an ice cream cake for the office party.
This is also for the Cupcake Challenge this week. Looking at the photo, the image panel looks crooked; it isn't IRL.

It has been a long week and I am happy for the time off. Duke and Cody may be going camping with Duke's brother on Saturday. It would be really nice to have some me time.

Happy Friday

I do not have anything crafty today, I apologize. We didn't get home from the banquet and game until after 11:00 p.m., too tired to make a post or a project. I may have something a little later tonight, but it will most likely be tomorrow.

Have a great weekend!

Floral Portfolio

Made this some time ago to match the card I made for a challenge on Allison's blog. I hope you can see the stickles on the flowers. I used all PTI stamps for this. Inside it houses some note cards ala Michelle Wooderson and some decorated envelopes.

Later today we will be having Cody's t-ball banquet. I hope we get home at a decent hour since it's supposed to rain. I'll post some pics once I get them edited.

Wednesday, July 9, 2008

Thank You Rose

I gave this to one of my co-workers yesterday to thank her for taking me to lunch. She really went out of her way to welcome me and thank me for the time and work I have been putting in to organization and ensuring we have all the information in all the right places before our publishing deadlines approach. Such a sweet gesture.

As you can see, I used the same papers from my last post, just in a different way. Oh, and I stamped on the twill ribbon.

Cupcake was barking into the early morning hours the night before last; I was awakened at 3:00 a.m. by it. I scolded her, and while she normally behaves once she's scolded, this time it didn't work. We can't let her in until she gets her flea treatment this weekend, so that wasn't an option. I just hope it doesn't happen anymore.

Only the Words

I made this for Allison's Suggestive Sunday Challenge which is to use only a sentiment stamp on the front of the card. So glad I got to participate this week.

I used a sentiment from PTI Out on a Limb. I used my Fiskars Threading Water punch for the dp.

I came home yesterday to a warm, yummy dinner. Duke had made chicken and dumplings for us. Cody just loves it and I consider it a comfort food. It was just delicious and completely hit the spot.

I used Lily from Pink Cat Studio for this card. The gift is popped up with pop dots and the hat was also cut out and adhered to her head. You can't see it in the photo, but I used the Scor-Pal to make a score lines above and below the ribbon.
Cody's sleepover went as well as could be expected. They were super loud and didn't listen to a word I said! LOL They woke up at 5:30 a.m. whispering and climbing under the sofa bed.

A Blog Thing

You Are Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

You are kind, popular, and generous.
You tend to be successful at anything you try.
A social butterfly, you are great at entertaining a crowd.
You are most compatible with strawberry ice cream.
I can't seem to get this post to space evenly, so I apologize for how it looks. And, I thought I had it ready to post at midnight, but nope....whoops!!!

You're a Super Friend

Sorry about not posting yesterday, just had too much going on. Had to visit family, grocery shop, get gas, cook, and pick up a family friend from NC. Busy! Another Billy card, I just love the images. I am going to try to get my challenge card ready in the hopes of being a Guest Designer and winning some stamps. I'm certain I won't be the winner, but I've gotta try!

We watched fireworks at a local Christian community center, they put on a great show and Cody was able to catch up with some of his friends. He is having a friend over today and to spend the night with us. We're going to go swimming and cook out at Greenbrier later today. Hopefully, it won't be packed and we can find a place.
I need to get into my craft space, but it probably won't happen until Sunday. I'll catch up with everyone then.

Hot Stuff

This set is one of my favorite sets from MFT, even though I am not a coffee drinker. The dp is from Cosmo Cricket and that was my last piece of it. I have enjoyed using it.

Work is still very enjoyable, I am making progress on learning the business as well as the piles that my boss works from. He can finally see areas of his actual desk. Progress! Of course, this means that they are now on or in my desk, however.

We have a three day weekend. I plan to visit my aunt after work and before the run to the grocery store. She is missing me and Cody, so I'm obligated for a few hours with her. On Friday night, we are going to a local community center to watch the fireworks show.

Divine Inspiration

This was inspired by a dress I saw in the window of a shop while shopping for tennies a week ago. I fell in love with it and will eventually own it.
I used all Paper Trey stamps for this one.

The Scoop

Ice Cream and Gossip

Forgive the weird way I had to add the picture, blogger was being impossible last night so I uploaded from my Photobucket account so that I would have a post today.

Not sure if you can tell that the image panel has been popped up; image is from My Favorite Things.

We have been getting massive amounts of rain in short periods of time over the last week. It definitely cools down while it is raining, but becomes hotter than you know where afterward. We sure need the rain, just wish it came in a different way.

Cody has lost his ball cap and we need it for the banquet. Before I give up hope of finding it, the sitter is checking her house. I'll have to call the coach to see if there are any alternatives before the big day.

I hope to take Cody to see Wall-E this weekend. I have heard lots of good things about it and he seems to talk about it all the time. He has been practicing Wall-E's voice as well. Too cute!

I have been nursing a pretty bad headache, this is my second day. Not entirely sure why, but I may have to see the eye doctor again soon. Too much time in front of a computer screen may be the culprit. Either that or perhaps old age! LOL
