Pink Elephant

Isn't this the cutest little elephant you have ever seen? This is my take on Taylor's TECC57 sketch for this week.

This cute little Penny Black image jumped into my cart a few weeks ago when I went to Hobby Lobby. There are a few more of this nature that I'd like to pick up, just haven't had the time to go.
I blinged this card up. The American Crafts paper is full of tropical colors, a refreshing change from the scenery here in Tennessee. I can hardly wait for the green to return.

I have decided to stay in this weekend, all of us are feeling a little under the weather and it's time to rest up instead of run the roads. I hate it, but we won't get any better if we don't take care of ourselves.

Jaina Fairy

This is another image from Paper Makeup Stamps, I love all her fairies. I hope you can see the embossing on the Lavender Moon layer, it's a Sizzix Texturz Embossing Plate. Thankfully they work in my Wizard Die Cutting Machine. I picked these up at my LSS and they are relatively inexpensive. The embossing isn't as deep as the Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, but these are much larger and capable of embossing an entire card front. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I have had a long couple of days at work, hopefully today will pass rather quickly and I can get on with the weekend. I am hoping to head to Michael's to get a few MS punches since I have a couple of coupons burning a hole in my pocket. There are a few projects I have in mind that uses them, so I hope I get lucky and find them in stock.

Beary Box Sketch 15

Just a really quick post for today. This is my take on the sketch for Beary Box this week. Be sure to stop by the blog to look at what the other designers did as well as to view this week's fabulous prize just for playing along.

Fairy Flutterby

This is my card for Flutterby Wednesday. You'll have to look really hard to find the butterfly, but I do have one on this card. Sadly, this will be my last week as a Flutterby Featured Stamper. I want to thank Danni for the opportunity to play every week and for her hard work getting all the cards rounded up and for showcasing them on her blog. She's such a sweetheart.

This week we were challenged to use orange and yellow on our card. I hope you decide to take the challenge. All you have to do is make a card that has a butterfly on it, and when you upload to a public gallery please use the keyword FBW46.

My First Anya

My published card is up at Scrapbook News and Review, you'll need a subscription to view the magazine however. I am sooooo excited.
I have been seeing these adorable images all over the place and decided to try a few of their digital images. Her name is Anya and she can be found at The Greeting Farm.

It's a bit of an unusual color combination, but I like it. She was really alot of fun to color and since she's a digi image, I can make her as big or as small as I'd like. I'll have a few more projects with her in the coming days.

My day flew by yesterday, thank heavens. It was definitely a Monday, but at least it was tolerable.

Chelly and the Lucky Clover

This is another image from Paper Makeup Stamps, fun to color and oh so cute.

The colors were chosen from the dp. Ironically, I used Shimmerz in Angel Wings for her wings. That stuff really sparkles and adds so much to the look.

The Best and Most Beautiful Things

This is one of my favorite quotes and I seem to use this one quite alot on the inside of cards.

I used a new stamp from a new stamp company for the flourish on the right side of the card. It's actually a tree, but I didn't want to use the whole thing, so I just inked up a portion of it. It's called Swirly Tree from Paper Makeup Stamps. She has all sorts of fairies and monsters and they are all just cute as can be.

Hugs and Kisses

I, again, used this cute little fairy image from Two Scoops Rice Designs. The papers are Pink Flamingo from SU! I just love the sunny colors and all of the designs are lovely. I was immediately drawn to it in the catalog.

Duke's friend bought him a ticket to Costa Rica and he will be going sometime next month for two weeks. He's been wanting to go for some time, so now is as good a time as any, especially when his only expense will be a round trip tickets and food money. He has been to Costa Rica many times before, and he just loves it there.

Dakota had a very hard time with his first round of chemo; he received the chemo meds three days in a row. He's been very sick, violent, and really tired. Poor kid has to go through this all again on Monday, just the one day of chemo this time though. Then, he waits 21 days to start again.

Two Scoops

This was a free digi image from Two Scoops Rice Designs, a super cute fairy. You can see the link on Allison's blog as I am too lazy to try to find it, plus our internet is just creeping along.

Anyway, it was alot of fun to color and I can see that I'll have another company to watch. All these fun stamps keep me broke.

I also have to give a shout out to Susana's Custom Art and Card Design store. I ordered some rhinestones and shimmerz on Monday and I received them yesterday. Awesome communication and lightning fast shipping. Plus, some extra goodies for being a customer...gotta love that!

Out of This World

I saw this super cute image from Stampabilities at Hobby Lobby last weekend and had to get it as well as the one seen in my Monday post since they were 1/2 off. I love that our Hobby Lobby finally had some new images.

This is my interpretation of this week's sketch from Beary Box, I totally love it and will definitely be using it again. If you decide to try the sketch, be sure to head over to the Beary Box blog and link your card up. Below is this week's prize, fun stuff.
This has been the longest week ever, and we are just barely half way through it. Hopefully, the weekend will poke by too, of course that's not usually how it works.

OCC Flutterby

I used the sketch from OCC for this card, perfect for the image. The image was RAK'd to me from Danni.

I used some of my hoarded SEI paper, this pattern is so pretty with some great colors. If you decided to participate, all you have to do is make a card or project with a butterfly. If you decide to upload to any public gallery, be sure to use the keyword FBW44. Oh, and be sure to link to Danni's blog as well. You can check out what the other Flutterby Featured Stampers did this week by visiting Danni's blog or by clicking on their link in my sidebar.

I am hoping to find some time to craft later this week. Cody has been conveniently *forgetting* his homework assignments, so we have to make up for it the next night. I've alerted his teacher, so hopefully that helps. I am usually exhausted by the time we get done, too exhausted to do anything but go straight to bed. I pray it gets better, he's wearing me out.

Bloom Circle Card

This is my entry for Mercy's MTSC30. It was quite the challenge as I had trouble getting the correct dimensions for the rectangular panel. It finally worked out, I suppose.

I like making circle cards, it's especially easy with the help of nesties. I pulled out an older PTI set as well, time to show it some love again. It always makes really pretty cards. The MM flower and button accent also matches much more closely IRL, don't know what happened during the editing process.

Rather long day at work yesterday, not sure why. I was plenty busy, maybe just because the phone didn't ring as often.

Peace Out

Isn't this alien fun?! I just fell in love with him at Hobby Lobby when I went over the weekend.

This is my take on this week's SFYTT which you can find on Jen's blog. Such a fun sketch just perfect for these tall skinny images. The sentiment was made using alpha stamps from PTI and The Paper Studio. I am really loving the star nesties too.

I'm going to try to get new pics taken since I have a cool new 'do. Well, at least I think it's cool. Finally glad to get what I asked for when I went to the salon. I am one of the rare women with little attachment to my hair, I change it alot too.

A few posts down, I have included Dakota's address in case you'd like to send a card over the course of the next six months. That is the minimum duration of his chemo treatment. In any case, I know any mail will cheer him up because he's home bound starting today; no more school or trips out in public for fear of infection.

Hope you all are having a great start to your week.

Stampendous Bees

I couldn't resist this stamp when I saw it yesterday. I love these bees and sure wish I had more. I also used the AMYRS58 sketch. Great sketch for a quick card and small image.

I may have lost my mojo, I'm just not feeling this card. I would have made another, but I spent most of the day out of the house yesterday. So, alas, no time. It still took me over an hour to complete.

Dakota starts his chemo treatments on Monday. Apparently, he stays in the hospital for a few days and then doesn't go back for two weeks. He has had a few bad days lately, but mostly because he isn't getting enough rest. He plays basketball and a few of the schools are having special benefits for him, so his presence is somewhat required. However, the season is over and since he won't be returning to school this year, he wanted to go to each of them. He'll be tutored through the rest of the school year as he has a minimum 6-month treatment schedule.

Card Request for Dakota

I spoke with my parents today and Dakota goes into the hospital Monday to start chemo. They apparently changed their minds about treating with radiation first. So, he stays in the hospital for two nights, then goes back in two weeks. He will be tutored at home since he'll be out of school for some time now.

Anyway, for those of you that would like to send a card, I would be appreciative. His older brother is feeling a little left out, so if you can send one to him as well, I'll be doubly appreciative. Here is the information:

Dakota Moore

Thanks so much for your continued support!

A Bella Valentine

This is the card Cody gave to Ashley for Valentine's Day, she loved it. The message inside was " I Love You, but you better not get my 4-wheeler dirty again." He is too funny; and she thought it was funny too. He got her the cutest pair of socks for the occasion as well. But, I forgot to take a photo of those.

Here is the close-up:
I used the AmyRS57 sketch for this card; I even used the same image she did in her sample.

Raspberry Tea Holder

I made this to go into a Valentine's Day package for my friend. She and I have been good friends since high school, reconnecting about one year ago. I picked up some little cars for her boys and sent her some raspberry muffin mix, holiday cupcake cups, a mini heart ice cube mold, and a heart themed kitchen towel. Lots of fun stuff to open. Anyway, I thought the perfect beverage accompaniment would be Raspberry Zinger tea. She needs the strong stuff to keep up with her two boys. LOL Guess raspberry was the theme---raspberry muffins, raspberry tea, and Raspberry Fizz paper and ink.

Unfortunately, in my haste to get it in the mail so it would be delivered in time, I left out the Valentine's from Cody, the lollies, and the heart shaped measuring spoons. So, I've put all that in the mail and she'll get it, although probably not in time for the holiday. Maybe the muffins with distract them enough not to care. I'm such a scatter brain.

It has been another long week. I haven't been sleeping because I am having strange, weird, off-the-wall dreams. I don't know what is prompting them, but I wake up several times a night. Most of the time I can get back to sleep, but it's just onto another crazy dream. Hmmm, maybe it's the food. Duke has been doing most of the cooking since he's been laid off. That sounds reasonable.

Calling All Angels

This is my card for Beary Box sketch #13. I used Calling All Angels from H&M Stamps, super cute set. I stamped the heart punch with the leaf from PTI Spiral Bouquet.

We'd love to see you sample the sketch. Make a card or layout using the sketch, then link it in the comments on the Beary Box blog. One lucky participant will win this week's prize which you can see below. What a fun and pretty kit, perfect for the season of love.

My mother called last night and informed me that Dakota does not have the cancer in his bone marrow, which is such good news. I might be able to sleep a little bit if the wind does not keep me awake. Please continue to pray for him and for a body that is responsive to treatment.

I did some assembling with all the parts of the project I made the night before. I am pretty sure I'll be able to pull it off in time for the holiday. I still have some to finish, but it's doable as long as nothing happens that prevents me from getting to my craft table.

Sophia and the Flutterby

Another Flutterby Wednesday challenge. This week Danni challenged us to use a butterfly, buttons, and sparkle on our card. I used Lauren's mytimess 23 for the layout. The image was a little large, but it finally managed to come together. Again, I used some bright colors...must be a theme this week. Just wear your sunglasses if you need to.

If you want to participate, all you have to do is make a card meeting the above criteria. If you decide to upload to any public gallery, please use the keyword FBW44 so we can all take a look.

Head over to Danni's blog to take a look at what the other Flutterby Wednesday Featured Stampers did and to welcome this month's Guest Designer.

Last night I got dp cut, small images stamped and punched, and sour cream containers stuffed for Valentine's Days treats for my co-workers. The sour cream containers are going in Target mailboxes. I still have a slew of them remaining and figured this was as good a time as any to use them up. I don't think I will embellish too awful much on the mailboxes for the fellas. I *hope* I can get them all done in time.

I've also been looking at getting a hair cut. I have been trying to grow it out, but it looks just awful, so I am not going to make it.

Love You Much

Don't you just love that dp, it's Candy Lane from SU! It's perfection.

This is my card for this week's SFYTT found here. What a fun sketch. It allows the image to take center stage, I just embellished with heart punches. I think I may be addicted. I have the heart nesties on their way to me as well.

I need to start reading a new to me series from Janet Evanovich. I have borrowed the first three books, but haven't opened them yet. I need to get cracking on them, apparently there are several more books in the series.

This is my interpretation of Mercy's sketch #29. Mercy has a really great blog and if you haven't seen it, you are really missing out. She posts a new sketch every Tuesday.

I used some more MME paper and a few PTI sets.

I got all my bedding washed Saturday, gosh where does it all come from? We are taking some extra blankets and both comforters to the laundry to get them washed. They are too large to fit in our machine. Nothing like clean bedding though, even if it is alot of work.

I also went to the grocery store for just a few things...spent way too much money. My goodness, $100.00 worth of groceries can fit into about 4 bags. Shocking how much food costs these days.

Cody's Valentine's are ready to go, he went with Power Rangers this year. In all actuality, I bought them last year on clearance. Will probably do the same this year as well, I don't go through the trouble of handmade for things that will be ripped and thrown away. Although I realize no one can keep everything, it's a little much to use my good cardstock and paper for 2nd graders. So, I sent some Jolly Rancher lollies and store bought Valentines; I'll end up signing up for some sort of food for the party.

PTI Sketch Challenge

Have you seen all the excitement going on over at Nichole's blog in celebration of the start of Paper Trey's third year? Here is my card for the sketch challenge.

I, again, used the Pink Flamingo dp from SU!, I love the colors; so cheery and sweet. The sketch was just perfect for the image from Out on a Limb. I used Cameo Coral and Tempting Turquoise for the leaves. This card may very well be going to one of my co-workers who is getting married next weekend. Not sure it's formal enough, but they are a fun couple and I think this captures Tricia's personality.

Duke mended some of his shorts yesterday and I had to mend our electric blanket. Darn thing fell apart in the washing machine.

I hope to get several more challenges completed before heading back to work on Monday. I tell you it feels great to create in light of all the drama going on in my life. My nephew is doing well, you would never guess he's so sick. Kids are great that way, aren't they?!

You Cheer Me Up!

I used a stamped image I received from Lynn, Pompomabella. I also used a Bella sketch, I'm not sure from where, but out there in blogland somewhere. Jenn, see I used my new Pink Flamingo dp from SU!

Here is a close-up:
Just a quick post today. I don't have alot to do today, mostly some picking up after the boys. They've been home all week because of snow and ice, needless to say, the bedroom and toys are a mess. Plus, I'm making Cody go through his toybox and start purging. It's overflowing onto the floor, etc.
Dakota doesn't go back to the hospital until Wednesday next week when we will learn the results of several more of his tests. I'll continue to keep you updated and wish to thank you all once again for your generous hearts.

A Trendy Tree

I used my brand new set from SU! called Trendy Trees, love it! It is definitely a little bright, but I used colors from the strip of American Crafts dp as inspiration for the colors. Besides, I don't mind bright colors. LOL

Dakota had the port put in yesterday and finally woke up from the anesthesia at 6:30 p.m. He woke up in the middle of surgery, so they gave him a higher dosage and put him right back out. He doesn't have to go back to the hospital until Wednesday, when they will give the results of a few more tests as well as start radiation therapy. His doctor said his cancer has a 90% cure rate, so the prayers have worked! We are all ecstatic but remain realistic. Thank you all so very much for the prayers and support, I can't tell you how much it means to me.

Someone Special

This is for Beary Box sketch 12. Love it, it's one of my favorites! I hope you can find a way to participate! This week's prize is amazing American Crafts and Creative Imaginations goodies. All you have to do to have the chance to win is make a card or layout using one of the sketches, then add the link to your card on the Beary Box blog. We'd love to see what you do!

I used my new SU! set, Love You Much. The birds are just adorable. The small heart is a punch from SU!, love it.

Dakota has to be at the hospital to have the port inserted this morning, bright and early. Such a scary thing, and to go through it at 11 years old is even scarier. The CT scan found several more tumors througout his body; and he is in Stage 3 of the cancer. Please keep praying for him and a swift recovery.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Dakota Update

Dakota had a scan today, he has several more tumors throughout his body. He will be having the port put in tomorrow, meds to start immediately after. I'll update once I know more.

Please continue to pray for him and for good news. Thanks!

Zebra Flutterby

It's Wednesday which means another installment of Flutterby Wednesday. This is the image that Danni RAK'd me with. It's so pretty! I decided not to color it so that it more closely resembled my paper choices. Well, technically, I did color it in with a clear glitter pen, but it's so subtle that you may not be able to see it in the pic.

You can participate by just putting a butterfly anywhere on your card or project; then, if you choose to upload to SCS or PCP, use the keyword FBW43 so we can all take a look. Have fun!

Just in case you missed this when I posted yesterday: My nephew has Hodgkins Lymphoma. He is being subjected to a myriad of tests to determine which stage it is in and if it has spread. So far, there are no masses in his chest, which is very good news. He will be going through more tests each day ending on Thursday. If it has not spread anywhere else, the doctor will reopen him and remove the cancer remaining in his face and he will NOT have to have chemo. This is what we are praying for...that it has not spread and it will be over very soon. Please keep Dakota in your prayers!

What's Up Cupcake?

ETA: My nephew has Hodgkins Lymphoma.

I sampled Jen's SFYTT for this week. It looked so interesting that I had to try it; not totally sure I succeeded. You can see I'm getting my money's worth from the Candy Lane dp.

We got bad news yesterday from the doctor regarding my nephew. My entire family is upset, devastated, and angry. His parents and my parents have an appointment later today to find out what exactly we are dealing with and their suggested course of treatment. I *may* enlist you to send cards him and my sister. They sure are gonna need something to look forward to. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers, it really means alot to me.

Little Somethings

I used this super cute dress from Amy's Boutique and Amy's Boutique Sentiments by AmyRStamps available at All That Scraps. I hope you can see all the sparkle from the SU! Dazzling Diamonds glitter, wow!

I also sampled Lauren's mytimess22 sketch.

Here is a close-up:
I was able to craft the better part of the day yesterday, got several things done. I hope I can return sometime during the week because I had so much fun. You never realize how much you miss creating until you can't for a bit.

My nephew's doctor is scheduling an appointment to give the test results, hopefully soon. We're all going a little crazy waiting.

We are experiencing issues with our internet lately. I'll be trying to get it repaired this week, so if I don't come and leave comments, just know that I will later.

Love Bear

I used Mercy's sketch for this week. I switched the sizes of the panels, still looks pretty balanced and even.

The image is from CC Designs Bear Hugs available at All That Scraps. I used the new Candy Lane dsp from SU!.
Are you ready for the big game today? I'll probably craft through the day and will likely watch the game with the fellas.
