Hello Sunshine, TESC118

I can hardly believe this is the last day of June, where does the time go? I made this card for this week's challenge at Taylored Expressions, TESC118. It's a pretty fun sketch, lots of different elements.

The stamps are from the Faith, Hope, Love set; I will never tire of this set. I thought it was the perfect companion to these October Afternoon papers. I just dotted some liquid pearls in between each scallop to finish 'er up.

Today on the Paper Makeup Stamps blog, Katie is announcing the 7, yes I said 7, new DT members for Paper Makeup Stamps.

We are thrilled to have them on board and are so excited to be working with them! You are gonna love 'em too! Please head on over to the PMS blog and leave them some love.

Birthday Bag

I needed a little treat sack for a little boy's birthday recently. All the stamps on this project are from PTI. I was trying to hard not to buy from them anymore, but their last two releases sucked me back in. Here's hoping the next one really sucks!! LOL

I typically try to use tried and true color combos when making stuff for the opposite sex, blue and orange is a classic. I threw in a little bit of green for good measure.

Homemade Apple Butter

I wanted to package up some of my homemade Apple Butter for my boss; he's been spoiling us with fresh veggies from his garden.

The white cardstock was stamped with Background Basics: Tin Types using Pure Poppy ink. I just love this pattern. I then stamped the apple and homemade sentiment from Just For You randomly on the kraft-like panel. The flower is from a Technique Tuesday set.

The jar is a cut file (Well Preserved) from My Time Made Easy; the template of course, comes from them too. It's called Jam Packed, which is just perfect for the purpose I had in mind.

I cut the jar and jar contents using my Cricut. The jar was stamped on the die cut and then on a scrap piece of paper so I could cut out the label. The apple from Well Preserved was stamped and then colored with copics. Finally, a little glossy accents was added to dress it up a bit.

The circle label, part of the Well Preserved cut file, is an Avery label. Once die cut, I stamped the sentiment using stamps from the Well Preserved stamp set. I went very minimal with the embellies since it was a gift for a man. It was very well received and even his wife and children were completely smitten with it.

The recipe I used for the Apple Butter is this one. I hope you can find some time to try it for yourself, it is delish.

Please Pray for Sonya West

My cousin, through my step-father's family, was in a motorcycle accident earlier this month and she has been hospitalized since. She continues to do well, but has a heck of a long road before her. She has already had a few surgeries and I am sure before it is all over, there will be lots more.

Her name is Sonya West, and she is vivacious, she is hard working, and she is a very special person. And, she has, hands down, the best hair ever! Thankfully, she has a supportive family and tons of friends who love her.

There is a Facebook Page for prayers and updates, you can find it here. If you pray at all, I would appreciate it if you could include Sonya and her husband, Brian, in your prayers.

Happy Birthday Katie Cotton

Today is sweet Katie's birthday and we have been working behind the scenes to celebrate her day with a surprise birthday blog hop.

Happy Birthday Katie!!!

You should have gotten here from Tangii's blog; if not, I encourage you to start here to see all the birthday treats from the beginning.

Katie is a coffee drinker and a rather passionate one at that. I used a set that I love and had buried at the back of my basket. It's called Caffeine Trip; sentiment from Birthday Cheer. I used the Mojo Monday 144 sketch with some fun papers from Basic Grey. I colored the image with copics and then added some glossy accents to the cup and stickles to the sugar cubes. Some fun pearl accents finish the whole thing off.

Now, hop on over to see what Christi S has for Katie! And, please be sure to visit Katie today to wish her a Happy Birthday.

Hope you have a fabulous day Katie!! Love ya girl!

Do Me A Favor

It's Friday! That means it's time for the Makeup for the Weekend challenge. This week's challenger is Maria and we have been challenged to make a party favor.
I made this Box in a Bag to use as a favor for my niece's birthday party, she'll officially be a teen on July 14th and her parents are throwing a pretty big bash in her honor.

I used some gorgeous paper from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary line, love it and will definitely have to get a few more sheets soon. The sentiment is from Birthday Cheer and was stamped in Regal Rose and then punched out with an EK Success label punch, love the shape of this one.

Behind the label is the SU Leaf die with some little flowers. I just added a sweet little green pearl to their centers after they were adhered.

We hope you take on the challenge. Just remember to use the keyword M4TW32 when you upload, then link to the PMS blog so we can take a look. You don't have to use PMS stamps, but if you have 'em, we'd love to see 'em!

A Happy Birthday VLV

This card was inspired by the 3rd room and sketch for the 4th June Viva La Verve challenge. The rooms have been just gorgeous and I sure would love to have any one of them for myself.

I used kraft, red, and green as those are the main colors found in the room. I used MFT Dienamics for my scalloped border, love it! The sentiment is a Plain Jane from Verve as are the leaves. I am always in need of birthday cards, you really never can have enough.

Thank You, Thank You Berry Much

I had these two stamp sets from My Time Made Easy sitting on my table and thought that the largest flourish from Fanciful Flourishes looked like the perfect place to nestle some raspberries from Well Preserved.

I used a variety of papers from Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket. I really thought I would use Green at Heart paper pack more, but I really don't care for it. There is just too much purple in it for me.

I tried out the new Jumbo Scalloped Dienamics from MFT and I really like them except for the fact that it leaves an embossed line on the paper from edge of the die. But, if I flip it over to use the other side, the paper is somewhat "embossed or wrinkled" with the cutting side of the die cutting plates. I just might be using them incorrectly. Hmmmm. Anyone got any advice for me?

I got lots of questions about the Crock Pot Apple Butter recipe. It turns out fantastically, and tastes amazing. I used apple cider instead of water, so that helped to intensify the flavors.

To can it, you just sterilize the jars and lids; then spoon the apple butter into the hot jars making sure to clean any spillage off before attaching the lids. Then, put them into a water bath, filling to at least 2 inches above the lids. I boiled mine gently for 30 minutes, then set them out to cool. The pinging of seals is a glorious sound!

Jarring Challenges

This is for the Color Throwdown 97 and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge 78; I used an oval in the place of the circle.

I also pulled out my new Well Preserved set for the jar and Puckered Up Patterns for the background. I am enjoying making my own patterned paper these days. I guess I should for the number of background building sets I own. *wink*

I made some Crock Pot Apple Butter over the weekend and it is just delicious. *a photo will be included in a post later in the week. The recipe I used makes about 6 half pints, which is just enough. I will be making more since I want to be able to gift it as well. My next experiment will be Peach Butter, we are crazy about peaches at my house.

Duke is supposed to build me shelves so that I can display my collection proudly. I am totally getting into canning and preserving, must be my age. I can recall my granny, Mom, and aunts canning every year and me thinking it was the dumbest thing ever. I mean, they do sell this stuff at the stores after all. But, I always had to help with the unpleasant part of shelling peas, de-stringing the beans, shucking the corn, etc. So, it wasn't high on my list of things to learn. But, I find that the older I get, the more I want to do these things for my family.

Happy Father's Day 2010

This is Duke's Father's Day card this year. * for some eason, blogger did not post this as scheduled on 6/20/10. I pulled out some yummy Basic Grey goodness and some neglected PTI sets that are just perfect for Father's Day and any masculine card thereafter.

The sketch is Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge 77, a nice one that is helpful when trying to use up scraps. I love those papers, I am totally into the ledger/ office supplies craze, just like everyone else. I was so happy to be able to incorporate them into my card.

Good Times SFYTT

I could not wait to ink up some of my new PTI goodies, so I took the opportunity to use them in conjunction with this week's SFYTT. I really like this one, lots of possibilities.

I used the label shape and sentiment from Friendship Jar as well as the coordinating Jar Label die shape. The teacup and tea bag are from Tea for Two Additions. I also used the coordinating Tea Cup die.

The papers are so pretty. They are from the Quite Contrary line of My Mind's Eye. I love the slight texture it has as well as its weight, nice heavy paper. I just used a corner rounder on the bottom panel. The bow was made using the Bow Easy.

Hey Baby, it's the Makeup for the Weekend Challenge

This is for today's Makeup for the Weekend challenge. Lisa McKinney is the hostess today and she has challenged us to make anything relating to a baby. Our Lisa is expecting a baby boy in August; I have my fingers crossed that she has him on August 7th which is my son's birthday.

I absolutely love this quote and I couldn't wait to use it. I don't make many baby cards since most of the babies in my immediate family have been born. We have many years to wait to welcome any new ones (I hope!).

I went very non-traditional with the colors because I was dying to use this new dp. I love the colors in it and how cheery and bright it is. Once the sentiment was stamped, I punched it with a new EK Success label punch I picked up my LSS a few weeks ago. I love its shape and size.

Here is a close up of the felt flower. I got the scrumptious felt from the Etsy shop, Felt on the Fly. Janet is a joy to work with, the price is right, and she ships super fast. I ordered on a Tuesday and had my package waiting for me on Thursday. Now, that's fast!! And, it was packaged so nicely, I almost didn't want to open it up.

It cuts wonderfully and is so soft. As you can see, no unsightly yuckies. The button center is threaded with some thin red grosgrain ribbon. I layered the flower on die cut leaves from Stampin Up.

We do hope you find the time to play along with us this week. Just use the keyword M4TW31 when you upload and be sure to link it up on the PMS blog so we can come take a look. You don't have to use PMS stamps in your creation, but if you have them, we'd love to see them!

Thank You SSSC73

I was able to carve out a little time to use these new, super fun stamps from PTI. I used the sketch from The Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC73 and some colorful inks and papers.

The papers are from My Mind's Eye and October Afternoon, both of these companies are really rocking out the fabulous paper. Love them!

The kite outline was stamped and then colored with copics. Then, I just added some random polka dots to it kinda match a pattern on the dp. Some self adhesive gems finishes the whole thing off.

Argyle Birthday

Here is a mock up of a version of Cody's birthday party invite; only a few of these made it into rotation. I ended up going with a tropical invite instead since that is the theme he chose.

So, I chose bright colors because that's what seems to work for boys and for summer parties. The invite info was printed onto my cardstock and all my stamping was done after that. The button was threaded with some thin grosgrain ribbon, just adhered in back before matting. I find this design really playful.

This really was super simple to complete; the background stamp makes it easy.

Thinking of You VLV

This is for the 3rd June Viva la Verve challenge, the sketch was super fun and the rooms were so beautiful! I chose the 3rd room, inspired by all the pink with green punches throughout. I picked up this lovely My Mind's Eye paper from my LSS a week or so ago and immediately knew it was perfect for this challenge.

I used Blessings and Because of You for the focal panel, then die cut it with nesties. The flower corner was inked up with light pink and then I just used an ink pad to dab on a darker pink before stamping it. The flower centers are accented with Viva Decor pearls.

The strip die is from PTI, I just filled the holes with Viva Decor pearls to finish the whole thing off.

Lemonade Cake Recipe Card

I recently ran across this recipe again and decided to make it into a recipe card so I don't lose it anymore. It also fits the Makeup for the Weekend challenge 30, M4TW30, make anything with food.

The recipe was printed on the computer. I stamped the lemon slice from Freckled Lemonade onto the card randomly and added the sentiment from the set over the whole slice.

This cake is so refreshing on a summer day, I can't wait to make it again.

Katie is having a HUGE sale at the PMS store, you definitely need to check it out. And, you'll need to stop by the PMS blog to grab the FREE word art for Father's Day!

Flower Garden

I made this card to fit two challenges, the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge 87 and the Sweet Stop Sketch 60. The papers are from BoBunny, so perfect for this quote from Paper Makeup Stamps.

I just added a flower border punch, a prima with a Viva Decor pearl center and that fun little butterfly to accentuate it.

RAK Catch Up

I have been extremely remiss in posting RAK's I have received during the last little bit. I apologize to my girls for thinking of me, I should be better about getting the good stuff on the blog in a reasonable amount of time. ( I don't have any time to post pics today, but I wanted to thanks them publicly).

I won Jenn D's blog candy a month or so ago, it's a super wonderful Scor-It and some fun papers to go with it. And, it was accompanied with a beautiful card. If you've ever visited her blog, you know what I mean.

Lisa Kind, from the PMS DT, is so wonderful about sending such pretty cards to me. And they come at the right time, exactly when I need a pick up!

Danni, also from the PMS DT and a good friend, sent me a very pretty card.

Allison, very cool blogger friend, sent a beauty of a card too.

And, most recently, Tangii sent me a cool ribbon organizer and a fun card. Oh, and she is from the PMS DT as well.

Thanks ladies! Know that I appreciate you!

Once You Choose Hope

I found a new color challenge blog the other day, Color Chef. This card is for challenge 53, red, light blue, dark blue, and either cream or white.

I went super simple with this one and created a one layer card. I hardly ever do these and in my goal to have several blog posts ready to go over the course of the next few weeks, it only seemed fitting.

The flower and sentiment are part of the Faith, Hope, Love set from Paper Makeup Stamps. I love this set, definitely one of my all time favorites, period. So, the flower was stamped once with full strength ink and then once more without re-inking. The final touch is some self-adhesive gems on the left side of the sentiment.

The fellas and I are heading to see Shrek Forever After. Then, over the course of the next few weekends, we are attending a concert at the Elvis Museum and exploring at the Dinosaur Walk Museum. These are a few of the perks of working in the tourism industry in a huge tourism area. Thankfully we are able to do these things at little or no cost since we will most likely not be taking a full on family vacation this year. It'll just be a series of long weekends before school starts, at least for the most part. But, we are home bodies and are just as happy here as anywhere else.

Enjoy the Journey

I made this for the 2nd week of June Viva la Verve challenges. I chose the second room this week since I need to add some more masculine cards to my stash. Here I have some October Afternoon goodness with A Little Argyle and Masculine Motifs from PTI as well as Bountiful Backgrounds from Verve. I am loving the argyle as of late, can't get enough of it.

The sketch this week was super fun too, so many layers and shapes. The only thing not obvious on this card is that the twine was colored with a copic marker to match the matting and the globe was stamped in a very light blue onto the argyle pattern just to reinforce the theme.

So, I am looking forward to the weekend, we have lots of fun stuff planned. I was able to get the grocery shopping out of the way last night and hope to get a little cleaning and laundry done tonight after work so that I can stamp the day away on Sunday without many distractions.

PMS June Review, Whimsy Tree

For the next few days, the Paper Makeup Artists will be reviewing all the sets, images, and word art released on the 7th of this month. Today, we are reviewing all the singles. I have Whimsy Tree, and you can see that I have used the grass stamp from Faith, Hope, Love as well.

The tree itself is about as cute as it gets, seriously! I paired it up with some yummy Basic Grey papers from the Green at Heart pack. A really simple layout really helps this tree take center stage.

Make sure you head on over to the PMS blog to see what the other ladies did.

A Dream of Possibilites

Ok, so it doesn't get much better than welcoming a new little baby into the world! I have a co-worker whose wife is expecting and I immediately wanted to make the Bouncing Baby Buggy from My Time Made Easy. What a wonderful way to present anything, right?

I grabbed some Martha Stewart dp and stamped images from Sensational Stems all over the argyle pattern with Rose Red and Regal Rose inks. Since they are single stamps, this took some time, that buggy is pretty big.

The sentiment for the card is from Paper Makeup Stamps called A New Baby. I then stamped the flower image in a stamped off Regal Rose, the flower is from the Faith, Hope, Love set. I went really simple with the card since I wanted the focus to be on the buggy.

All that's inside the buggy are some washcloths and a few headbands. I tell ya, it's time's like this that almost make me want another baby, not quite, but almost!

PMS June Release Blog Hop

Today is Release Day and, as always, we are celebrating with a blog hop. Remember to hop in order so that you get all the letters to the code that will save you 15% on new releases. You should have started here.

I get to show you this adorable image from the Retro Cuties line illustrated by Diem Pascarella. This is Angie the Angelfish. I went a little opposite on her coloring, they don't have to be black and white, right?
I used some rosy colors to match this beautiful paper from BoBunny. I love the big flower print combined with the polka dots. I love polka dots.

You may not be able to tell that I have used Glossy Accents on the heart in the image and sentiment as well as the bubbles. And, I used the colorless blender to add some polka dots to the little scallops behind Angie's gills. Oh, and the sentiment is one you can get for FREE just by placing an order.

My letter for you is:Now, hop on over to see Danni; I am certain she has something fabulous to show you!

And, get ready to party down with your bad self tonight at the PMS Forum. The fun starts at 9:00 PM. Hope to see you there.

PMS June Sneak Peeks, Day 3

Here we are at Day 3 of the peeks for the June Release at Paper Makeup Stamps. Today we are featuring this super adorable set, Tweet Things. It has 4 images, 1 word art, and 5 sentiments. I used the word art and the hummingbird from the set along with some luscious Basic Grey paper.

The hummingbird was accented with Viva Decor glitter and black pearls for the eye. I also used the pearl pen for the accent panel. This card also follows one of the Release Party challenges, a sketch-PMSRPC0610! Those are my fave challenges. I pleated my ribbon for the strip across the sentiment panel.

Now, you need to boogie on over to the PMS blog to see the other Makeup Samples using this fun set as well as for your chance to win it!

Tomorrow is Release Day! We always end the release with a fun hop; remember to hop in order so that you get the letters to the code that allows you to save 15% on the new releases. And, we party down in the PMS Forum, the fun starts at 9:00 EST.
