Thinking of You, FTL109

I really loved last week's Fall to Layout, FTL 109. For this sympathy card, I chose Forever In Our Hearts and Blessings from Verve.

I had a special order for 3 sympathy/ thinking of you cards last week. I thought this one was really soothing and calm and hope it helps the recipient through this terrible time. These types of cards are not fun to make and I find myself at a loss for inspiration when making them. Although I would much rather make some ahead of time and have them in my stash, I believe the feelings you have when you're making it somehow come through in the finished piece.

Arelia's World of Make Believe Kit

I made another card with the current Paper Makeup Stamps kit called Arelia's World of Make Believe. The only thing I used on my card that is not available in the kit is the border punch.

This quote really sums up a girl's childhood, doesn't it? I was always playing dress up, especially in high heeled shoes. My mom didn't have much occasion for them, but she had a few pair, and she found me clomping around in them all the time.
Here is what is included in this super fun kit. I must say, I really enjoyed this one the most. The papers and embellies are so delicate and the subject matter is one close to me.

Head on over to the PMS store to grab yours; they are in limited supply and won't be re-stocked. Once they are gone, they are gone.

Leafy Hello

This stem from PTI's Flutterby Friend is one I have been itching to use. I made this really simple card inspired by one of the cards in the SU catalog. My circle is larger and doesn't fit exactly where it was in the inspiration piece, but I like it just the same.

I decided to stamp on kraft, something I rarely do, but love the effect. It really tones things down and adds a little more warmth. The sentiment is from Little Moments, I just love this set.

Spooky Sweets

I foud these super cute pumpkin faced gumballs at the local Dollar General and thought it would be fun to package them up to use as part of the decorations for the house this year. The jar is one I use for seasonal treats. It has a locking lid that keeps things fresh.

The stamps are PTI's Friendship Jar: Fall Fillers. The spider web and the spider were accented with stickles

Here is the detail shot of the top. I really enjoy the multi-layered nesties and that fun label die.

Pure Innocence MTSC92

I made this for Mercy's sketch for this week, MTSC92. I wanted to use some neglected Pure Innocence stamps, this cutie is Fairy Girl.

I covered the wand with the Flower Trio Die-namics, layering two different colors; then used the Jumbo Scallop Die-namics for the strip across the center of the card. I really think these Cosmo Cricket papers are so pretty and just perfect for this sweet image.

I'm not sure if it's all that visible, but I used stickles on her shoes, the mushroom dots, and her wings. I love the subtle touch of sparkle it added.

Coffee Talk SFYTT

I really liked the SFYTT sketch from last week and already had this image colored just waiting for a card. The stamps are Let's Do Coffee from Taylored Expressions. I have recently become a coffee drinker, I blame all my friends. On the flip side, I collect the coffee and tea stamp sets like there's no tomorrow. LOL

Need to keep this short and simple, hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Ciao SFYTT

The sketch is Jen's SFYTT from a week or so ago and I was so intrigued with it, I had to try it. I even knew the papers I wanted to use to fit my travel theme, unfortunately, the card fell way short of my expectations.

The suitcase I used is PMS' Lisa's Luggage and the sentiment is from Little Moments. Told ya I love that set, it comes in so handy!

Hoping I can finish the mailer that needs to go out; it's my very first time by myself with only one day of training. So, keep your fingers crossed that I can remember what in the heck to do.

Just Because VLV

This is for the 3rd Viva la Verve challenge, we were given the sketch and then required to choose and inspiration piece. Here is my inspiration piece; I love the warm colors of the room and chose some coordinating papers from October Afternoon.

The stamps are from Great Friend, the flowers and leaves in the set are just delicious. The image panel is PTI's Rustic Cream with adds a little more hominess and warmth to the card.

Kind Words VLV

This is for the 2nd Viva la Verve challenge in September. The sketch was really fun and challenging and we got to choose our own inspiration piece from Antropologie-At Home. I chose this piece, prompting me to use several sets to stamp my background.

The main image is from Kinds Words; I also used Let it Shine, Love's Flower, and Leaves with a colorful combination of inks. Just a punched border, some pretty ribbon, and a few gems completes the look I was going for.

The tea bag holder I showed in this post was such a success that I made a few more. I will be making tons of these as holiday gifts for Cody's school staff and some of my co-workers. Tea is an inexpensive gift that seems to be very well received.

The papers for this one are from Sassafrass Lass, and are perfect for a school theme. I chose a coordinating sentiment from Little Moments. It is my go to set these days. I can't count the number of times I have used it recently.

This one uses patterns from my beloved October Afternoon papers. I paired them with another sentiment from Little Moments and with Swirlie Tree, love that image too. I use it mostly for backgrounds rather than in the traditional way.

If you are itching to try these out, you can find the tutorial for the tea bag holder HERE.

Trick or Treat Mojo

Woo Hoo it's Friday!

This is for MOJO155, a super fun sketch with a prize attached. The image is from CC Designs, you can find it here. She's so stinkin cute!

The papers are from Cosmo Cricket and the tag punches are from Stampin' Up. I also used some mandarin twine from The Twinery, love this soft twine. The colors are so vibrant.

The weekend doesn't hold anything special, but it'll be nice to have a tiny bit of down time. Ad production for the next issue of the magazine will be in full swing before ya know it. I'll be grateful when I am more organized and am more of a help to my team.

Bookworm

I inked up Well Read again, this time using softer colors. The layout of the card is super simple, I used some bling around the sentiment to jazz it up a little.

I'm giving this card to my mother, today is her birthday. She reads a bit, mostly religious books and stories. I just have to remember to stop by the bookstore to get a GC to put inside.
Anyone else glad tomorrow's Friday? Boy, it's been a long week.

Witchy Woman

I picked up this adorable cutie from All That Scraps, you can find her here. She was colored with copics and than accented with stickles. The stickles smeared/ blended together on her socks, should waited for one color to dry before adding another...sigh...lesson learned. I probably shouldn't be showing this with such a huge mistake, but I was NOT coloring the image over after I had spent so much time getting it right in the first place.

The background panel was embossed using a cuttlebug embossing folder, then I layered on the Cosmo Cricket paper. I added a few border punches to the dp for a little more interest.

You all were super sweet about my interview yesterday, I always dread those things. Man, do I really look like that?! I begged Tangii to post a pic of Angelina, but she would not indulge me!Thank goodness it's over! LOL

Where the Blue Fern Grows

Today the PMS blog has an interview of sorts about me, you'll have to head over there to check it out. I'm warning you....I am the most boring person on the planet.

So, for this occasion, I wanted to put some PMS on the blogarooni today. I was inspired to use this super sweet fern image from the Color It- Summer set recently. This set is really fun to use, the images are great for any time of year. I colored the fern to match my October Afternoon papers; I am pretty sure you won't find this color in nature. But, that's the beauty of stamping, it can be any color you want.

We are in the final stages of production at my day job LOL, I have my fingers crossed that the magazines get uploaded on Friday without incident. This round has been a long one, and I hope the next one goes much smoother. I definitely have to find a new way to get organized and have enlisted the help of the Art Dept., they know what they're doing. We start the process all over again in a few weeks.

A Dreamy Bookmark

I made this bookmark for a friend that is finally taking my advice and reading the True Blood book series. She loves the show, as I do, and I told her she is missing sooooo much by not reading the books. I can hardly believe the series ended last night, I am totally bummed!

But, the good news, for me anyway, is that I have no scheduled tv watching from now until the series returns in the summer. I just watch television randomly when I'm not involved in a weekly series. Plus, it's a good time to catch up on some reading.

I went girly with this since she is a girly girl, but used the color scheme of the show. The bookmark die is from PTI, I {heart} it. The stone cardstock was stamped with Book It from Ippity Stamps and with Dream Big from Verve. I tell ya, the leaves from the set are just gorgeous, arguably my favorite individual image from Verve. They go with everything!

I added only a tiny strip of October Afternoon paper to the top of the image panel. The twine is from The Twinery, maraschino and white. One word for this twine...YUM!

A Verve Throwdown

Katie and I both were stalking the last Verve release. While we were discussing (via IM) what we were ordering, she indicated it would make it easier if she were challenged to use them. And, since I am such a good friend/ enabler, I jumped right on it so that I didn't feel any guilt in ordering as well. LOL It goes without saying, that DT work sometimes leaves you with little time to "play" with other stamps (aka contraband). I, myself, have felt like I am collecting pretty stamps and not getting nearly enough use of them.

So, I put out some challenges and today is the day we post. We both purchased Kind Words and Great Friend.

I stamped the leaves from Great Friend onto some cardstock and then matted it. I used varying shades of gray with a tiny bit of color thrown in.

Once the tag was made, I ran it through my Big Shot to die cut it with MFT Die-Namics Notebook Edge Die. Well, a happy accident occured; all the scratches and grooves from the cutting pads etched a pattern on my tag. Just added a little bit of texture. Obviously, the die is meant to go through paper before you add a bunch of layers.

Next up was the sketch, you can find it in this post. I changed it up a little on this card so that I could add some ribbon over the top strip.

I am totally digging the font Julee used, awesome. The papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Togetherness mini deck.

Now, you will have to go see what Katie did. And, if you want to join the challenge, feel free to do so.

September Release Review

Today we are reviewing the September Paper Makeup Stamps release. I used the word art with papers and embellishments from this month's kit, Arelia's World of Make Believe. The flowers and papers are absolutely beautiful, as are the ribbons and brads in the kit....definitely my favorite so far.

This quote/ word art was previously available in a smaller format, now it's larger and able to take center stage on cards and on scrapbook pages. Head on over to the PMS blog so see more review cards.

Boy am I glad it's Friday. It seemed that this week would never end and it was a short work week to boot.

Arelia's World of Make Believe Kit

This month's kit from Paper Makeup Stamps is my absolute favorite so far. It's called Arelia's World of Make Believe. The papers are so beautiful and Katie chose the perfect embellishments and ribbons to match, and the stamps.... well, let's just say that they are perfect too. It's so wonderful that all the mixing and matching is done for you.

How adorable is that sweet fairy?! She was lots of fun to color too, I bet she'd be equally adorable paper pieced. I remember playing dress up, mostly with my mom's collection of shoes. It's a love I have to this day. They can't be high enough. Of course, since my current body just isn't built to stand on toothpicks all day, I am a flip flop/ flats girl now. *wink*

Below you can see the entire contents! Holy smokes, do you see it all?
taken from the PMS blog

1 Fairy Stamp (Arelia)
1 WordArt Stamp (size large)
1 simple sentiment stamp
8 sheets of 6x6 paper by Echo Park (Life is Good Collection)
8 full sheets (8.5 x 11) of coordinating cardstock
2 6x6 Adhesive-backed fabric sheets by American Crafts
4 yards of super yummy ribbon (a collection of May Arts and Making Memories)
12 inches of Rose Ribbon in Crimson by American Crafts
1 pack of In Stitches Blossoms by Sassafrass Lass
16 Bazzill Bling Brads

Obviously, these papers and embellishments aren't limited to use with the kit. I've used them in some of my other projects and still have a ton of stuff remaining. You can find more inspiration on the PMS blog.

Dream Big VLV

I was so happy to be able to participate with the current Viva la Verve challenge. Due to time constraints, I wasn't able to swing it for a few months. I also used a new Verve purchase, Dream Big. I am in love with this set, beautiful!

I chose the 3rd photo as my inspiration, focusing mostly on the color elements. That polka dot office chair is incredible, I totally want one.

PMS Secret Sister

Some of the DT members of Paper Makeup Stamps participated in Secret Admirer swap of sorts. We each filled out a questionnaire of likes and wants, our names were then divvied out.

Ginger was my secret admirer and she spoiled me in a good way. Look at all the loot! What she sent that is not pictured are a McDonald's GC (thanks for the frappe!) and 2 bags of skittles....those didn't make it out of the car. LOL

But seriously, look at that canvas! It's stamped with paint and is sooooo pretty. Then there are ribbons, MME papers, cardstock, bling, and that lovely to go cup shaped card with the gorgeously colored image. Oh, and the paint can. She has several rolled flowers adorning the top.

I cannot wait to use up all this stuff! Thanks so much Ginger for your generosity! You were entirely too generous and I love everything!

PMS September Release Blog Hop

Don't you just love our new peek logo? Senior DT member Shaela Odd created it in addition to the Release Party reminder button on my sidebar. Check out the PMS blog to see how you could win a $20 shopping spree at Paper Makeup Stamps for displaying the Release Party button on your blog!

Today is the day, it's Release Day at Paper Makeup Stamps. We always celebrate the release with a blog hop. If you have come here from Anita's blog, you are on the right track. If not, please start at the PMS blog to see everything from the beginning. This will also help you collect letters to this month's code that allows you to save 15% on all the NEW releases.

For my card today, I have used the uber cute Hugging Fairies, they are just sweet as pie and so much fun to color. I decided to paper piece the dress and the skirt with Cosmo Cricket papers.

The sketch is one from SCS from a few weeks ago. I pierced the 3rd layer for some interest at the top of the card.

I decorated the inside of my card, something I normally don't do. The sentiment I used is from the Nothing Left to Say set, you can see the full set below. It is full of sentiments to help convey sympathies and thoughts through any time.

The letter I have for you today is: E.

I am the end of the hop, I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen today. You can head on over to the PMS store to have a look around. Be sure to join us tonight at 9:00 pm EST in the Paper Makeup Stamps Forum for tons of fun, great conversation, and prizes. Hope to see you there.
