Fall Snapshots

Here are some photos taken a few weeks ago. We went to eat a sandwich lunch at a nearby area.
There are picnic areas and swimming holes galores here. The water is ice cold even in the heat of the summer, but Cody had to get his feet in.
The sounds of the water are so relaxing. The breeze was pretty cool this day, but it was invigorating.
The rocks can be tricky to climb over, especially when you're wet. But, they are plenty large enough to be able to sun yourself after a dip.
The colors hadn't quite peaked at the time of this photo, still lots of green.
I love where I live!

Cauldron of Treats

I made some chocolate covered pretzels and some M&M test tubes for Cody's class this year. They always have some sort of small party for each of the holidays and fortunately, he's still young enough that he enjoys this too. I might have one more year left of this, but maybe not.

Here he is with one of his goofy smiles. 9 years old and still can't smile on command. I had to snap about 5 pictures to get one that was decent. It's hilarious to witness.

Here's a closer pic of what's inside. The pretzel were coated with candy melts and then I sprinkled on some Halloween nonpareils. They were slipped into a pretzel bag and tied shut with thin orange or black grosgrain ribbon.
The test tubes hold mini M&Ms, got them on Etsy then had to shop for small corks, also found on Etsy. They were a hit!

Treat Yourself to the Makeup for the Weekend Challenge

It's Friday and that means we have another Makeup for the Weekend challenge. Our challenger is sweet Miss Lisa M and the challenge is to make a treat holder using chocolate as the main color.

I chose to make a cute little mini milk carton container to hold a few nuggets. I made it from chocolate cardstock and then wrapped a small strip of paper around. The sentiment is from Little Moments, such a handy little set. And, who wouldn't have a dandy day if they were receiving some chocolate?!

We hope you find some time to play along with us this week. Please use the keyword M4TW48 when you upload to your blog or gallery. Be sure to link it to the PMS blog too, so we can take a look. You don't have to use PMS stamps, but we love it when you do.

Autumnal Wreath

I used an older TESC sketch for this card, it was just too cool to pass us. The wreath is from PTI's A Wreath for all Seasons, super cool set. The leaves, of course, are from Turning a New Leaf; a new favorite.

I sent a slew of fall cards last week, so I really need to replenish my stash since there are many more to send out. I won't be sending many Christmas cards this year, so I am trying to get some sent for the current season. We'll see how far I get.

The Witching Hour

Here is the October Kit from Paper Makeup Stamps. The above picture is what is included in this super cool kit. Everything is wonderfully coordinated and easy to use.

Here is a small gift ensemble I made for a friend at work. I swear, they like the gifties as much as the kiddies in Cody's class. The image was colored and then I just trimmed around the broom to have it stick out from the image panel.

I added some stickles to the spider web, just makes it spookier.

And, how about those gumball eyeballs....really creepy. The box/ bag was decorated with more paper from the kit. I used Swirlie Tree and and a sentiment from the PMS Store to decorate the tag.
You can get the kit HERE, but they are in limited quantities, so you might want to get yours now before they are all gone!

Birthday Cheer

One of my co-workers had a birthday earlier this month and this was her card. I used Verve's Wish Big set and some delish October Afternoon papers.

I always have such a hard time keeping everything soft with my copics, I don't know what it is. But, I think I was able to achieve a soft look with the image this time.

Happy Thoughts

Last week's Mojo Monday sketch was a keeper, so simple and easily embellished. For this card, I used Great Friend. I just love that flower and the leaves/ branches. I randomly stamped the middle solid flower and the small open flower with coordinating inks. Then, went back to stamp the leaves to fill in some of the blank space.

The ribbon embellishment is something I have been wanting to try. It looks soooo good when I see it on everyone else's cards, but I'm not so sure I pulled it off. But, I'll get there if I keep trying; sometimes you gotta deal with a few duds along the way. LOL

Don't be a Square M4TW47

It's Friday and that means we have a Makeup for the Weekend Challenge. The challenger this week is Shaela and she's challenging us to make anything but a square or rectangular card. I immediately knew I wanted to make a circle card.

I made the circle card by using scalloped nesties in the largest size, then layered smaller regular circles on top. The dp is from October Afternoon and I cut it with nesties as well, then adhered to the vanilla panel.

I have a friend that is helping take care of her Dad, fortunately, he is in an assisted living program. But, she gets calls all the time; he seems to suffer setbacks often. So, I grabbed When There's Nothing Left to Say sentiment set and chose this sentiment. I wish I was closer so that I could be there for her, but this is the best I can do.

We hope you can play along with us this week. Just use the keyword M4TW47 when you upload to your blog or gallery so your project is easy to find. Then link it to the PMS blog so we can take a look. You don't have to use PMS stamps, but we love to see them if you do!

Have a great weekend!

A Wreath for the Season

Using Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch from this week, SSSC89, I created this fun fall card. With the cooler temps and the changing of the leaves, I am so inspired to create fall projects.

The background panel was embossed using an autumnal embossing folder, it really adds so much texture and depth to such a large space. The wreath and berries, from PTI's A Wreath For All Seasons, were stamped and then I tied a pretty green ribbon around the panel for even more texture.

I managed to dig out some old copper brads, the larger size, to use as a center for the circles I punched. The avocado panel was stamped with leaves from PTI's Turning a New Leaf set; I have longed for this set forever and finally just gave in and got it. Love it!

Dramatic Sympathies

A few weeks ago, I was commissioned to make a few sympathy cards. This one went to the family of a local theater owner, they owned Sweet Fanny Adams in Gatlinburg. Some of my friend's celebrated each birthday at the theater and have continued that tradition with their families. I've never gone to the show, but whenever you see the actors out and about, they were in costume and in character. So fun!

The image is clip art and I just went with a very simple layout; trying to fashion it to a theater and the colors of their logo and website.

Fall Day SFYTT

I loved the SFYTT on Saturday and knew that I wanted to make a fall card. The foliage is turning beautifully here, so I was really inspired. The stamp set is one from Stampin Up that I've hardly ever used, it's a shame too, because it is so pretty. I stamped the tree in Chocolate Chip ink and then used Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, and Old Olive inks for the leaves.

The papers are from My Mind's Eye; I just love those stripes and the colors. The felt from Felt on the Fly was die cut with the grass die-namics and then adhered with white glue. The clouds were die cut and then I added some stickles to the edges.

The terracotta paper was stamped with Ippity's A Bit of Burlap stamp so that layer wasn't so flat. I then added a border punched strip.

Banner Happy

A month or so ago, I was so happy to see the Banner Cut Ups from The Cat's Pajamas. I had to make them mine. This is my first project using them, banners for Halloween. Cody was able to help me with all the die-cutting and that was a treat in itself.

This is what adorns our left window. I used some BG Eerie papers, along with cardstock from SU. I was able to hang it with Mandarin Twine from The Twinery.

And, here is the right window. I made some accordion flowers, then stamped my phrase. After that, lots of punching ensued. Once each piece was adhered, I added some stickles to the letters for a little touch of sparkle.

A fun project, just alot of steps. We'll be doing another one for Christmas.

Fall Flower Garden

Using the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge, SSSC87 and the Curtain Call color challenge: Act 50, I came up with this one. The papers are October Afternoon (still have a love affair with it) and the quote is from Paper Makeup Stamps. I just added the branch die and some rolled flowers to complete my theme.

We're heading to a party at my co-worker's home on Saturday evening. This is an annual tradition for her, it's pretty big and supposed to be lots of fun. She's got food, music, and lots of company! Here's hoping for good weather!

Sunday, the plan is to go to get Cody some clothes, never made it the other day. But, he's outgrown his pants and is in dire need of some that fit well. Hope we can find them all at one store and not have to search. I also want to head to a few of the craft stores while we're in Knoxville.

You Mean the World To Me

The SFYTT combined with the Crazy 4 Challenges color challenge prompted me to pull out papers from the October Kit from Paper Makeup Stamps. The dp and ribbon is from the kit, everything else is from my stash.

The flower is from Color It: Summer, I paired it with some word art. There is such a vast selection of word art at the PMS store, you'd be hard pressed to not find what you're looking for.

Retail Therapy, we all know and love it; at least I do. I decided to pull out a set I have used entirely too little, ironically named, Retail Therapy. The purse from the set was paper pieced and then mounted on the circular image panel, I added a little pearl accent for the closure.
Still loving the Cosmo Cricket papers, they really do the trick here. And, the border punch adds a little femininity as well.

I used the sketch from the Sweet Stop, SSS76 and participated in the challenge for Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge 23, which was to use buttons and bows.

Miss You a Latte

I loved this image when I saw it. I don't know what it is about the coffee/ tea sets that draws me in, but seems like I've gotta have them all.

I used Jen's SFYTT for this card and some Cosmo Cricket papers. The flower was made using the Rolled Flower Die-namics and the leaves are a Stampin' Up die. I just accented the panel with some pearls.

The "ticket" is from PTI's It's Official set, I thought it was the perfect background for the image. The sentiment is part of the set with the main image- Miss You a Latte A la Mode, looks like it might be out of stock at My Favorite Things.

Hoping for a quick week at work, I am pooped already and we're only two days in. Guess I didn't get enough rest over the weekend. Plus, I have weaned myself off sugar, so it's been quite an adjustment operating on my own...LOL

PMS October Release Review

Today, we are reviewing Paper Makeup Stamps' October Release. This is Jenny, and truth be told, she looks alot like me. I'm kinda scared of the scale too and am on a journey for health and fitness.

I used some papers from MME with earthy fall colors. I really like star pattern and knew it would be a perfect fit for the image. I added some ribbon that I thought would be a good match and carry out my theme. This also qualifies for the Speedy the Cat & Friends challenge 24, to use stripes.

Be sure to look on the PMS blog to see what the other gals did for today's review.

So Happy for You

This is the second card from my "congrats" order. The stamps are all PTI, from various sets; and the label dies are from them too. I dressed this one very simply, but colorfully. It was for a group of people instead of just one recipient, so it needed to be unisex. Hopefully this qualifies.

Tonight, we are going to the Opening Ceremony for Cultural Week at Cirque de Chine in Sevierville. Duke, Cody, and I will be joining some members of the staff at work for the festivities. It'll be the first time we've seen the show and we've been looking forward to it all week. It's so funny, we live near a tourist destination and rarely play the tourist.

PMS October Release Day

It's Release Day! We always celebrate the release with a blog hop. If you arrived here from Christi Thorsen's blog, you are on track. If not, please be sure to start at the PMS blog to see everything from the beginning and to collect all the letters to this month's code in order. The code allows you to save 15% on all the new releases!

Oh my gosh, tell me that is not the cutest monster ever! He's covered in leaves, it's hard to spot him. Once I colored the image, I used the airbrush to soften it out. I made sure to dig for just the right papers, and I think these colors and patterns are just the ticket. Lastly, I added some googlie eyes for a little extra whimsy and fun.

The letter I have for you today is:

Now, hop on over to see Andrea's chocolately creation, bet it's wonderful! Then join us tonight in the Paper Makeup Stamps Forum. The fun starts at 9:00 pm EST.

PMS October Sneak Peeks, Day 5

Today we are peeking a new Moody and a sentiment set for dieter's. I used Moody for Chocolate, she's loaded up with all sorts of goodies. Of course, she's dieting, so I think she's throwing all this stuff out. LOL

I used some American Crafts papers, with some sweet, decadent colors. It's reminiscent of a candy shoppe. Anywho, she was colored accordingly and then die cut with nesties before being added to the card front. The sentiment was punched with some oval punches.

Be sure to stop by the PMS blog to see how the other Makeup Artists rocked it out. And, you'll see how to enter for your chance to win some FREE rubber!

And, as always, our Release Party is being held on October 7th at 9:00 pm EST in the Paper Makeup Stamps Forum. We always have a wonderful time chatting; we hope you can join us for all the fun!
