Four of Hearts

Another Valentine's Day card down! I sure am ready to use some soft, sweet colors. I am still using inspiration from the current SU catalog. This one will likely go to Cody's teacher, she loves pink.

The hearts were punched and then I stamped a flower from Faith Hope Love in VersaMark before adhering them to the image panel.

Well, we only have a 1/2 day at work today, then off until Tuesday. I am hoping to get lots of stamping done- PMS is releasing some fabulous new stamps and a kit this month, you're gonna love them! Plus, some new goodies will be finding their way to me....hopefully today! New stuff always seems to jump start the mojo!

Hope you all have a very Happy New Year!

An Early Valentine

Having no internet really sucks! But it forced me to take a blog break and also allowed me some time to peruse the current and former SU catalogs looking for inspiration.

This card is a CASE of one in the current catalog; I used different stamps and colors, but am really pleased with how it turned out.

I used SU's Charming set and some punches and dies; the bird punch, border punch, heart and label punches are all from SU; the flag strip is from PTI. Some carefully placed gems finishes the whole thing off.

Glistening Trees

A huge thanks goes to Katie for keeping up with my blog posts, she saved my bacon! It truly sucks to be without an internet connection due to the weather (we went for nearly 5 days). The snow just ruins everything here!

I used Mercy's sketch from last week to complete this card. The woodgrain background is from All Night Media and the tree stamp is SU's Lovely as a Tree. I just added a ton of stickles to the trees to make 'em sparkle!

I was only able to get about 2 cards done during all the snow and wind; mostly because my fellas wanted/ needed my attention. I don't know what it is about being fed and keeping clean that they can't manage on their own! LOL But, it was nice to chill and spend time together- forced as it was.

We ended up with about 9 inches of snow, then much of it blew off the trees and added another couple of inches. Being on top of the mountain makes the thought of going down it with that much snow a little daunting. Nevermind worrying about whether or not you can make it back up the darned thing! So, I ended up taking my final 2 vacations days and really hope I can make it to work today.

Happy Holidays

Well... Tina still has no internet and says the snow just ruins everything! But this card she already had uploaded into blogger, and since it's from Paper Makeup Stamps... I can give you some details!

The sentiment is from a set called Season's Greetings (and it's actually on sale right now from PMS for 40% off along with ALL the winter stamps! You just have to type in winter40 as your voucher code in your shopping cart and YES you can use it with other vouchers!)

Tina also told me that this card was created using the Viva La Verve challenge. I just LOVE Julee's sketches and i'm pretty sure Tina does too!

I also recognize that background paper as paper from My Mind's Eye (I believe the so contrary line? but that part i'm not postive on) and the adorable pink snowflakes are punches from Martha Stewart.

So wish Tina to get her internet back! She's doing fine, but she misses you all!

Season of Friendship Frame

(Tina's internet is STILL out, but this is a project she already had ready to go! Enjoy!)

This idea came from a SU catalog, a few issues back. The frame is one I got at Family Dollar for about $3, super cheap, but still looks nice.

The images are SU's Season of Friendship; I am so glad to have gotten my hands on this set. Each panel represents a season, obviously. I colored the ribbon with a copic marker to match the panels and colors more closely, but I am not sure I succeeded.

This went to my friend, Tricia, for her birthday. Hope she can find a good place for it on her walls.

Internet is out!

Hello everyone! This is actually Tina's friend Katie swooping in and hijacking her blog. hehe. Ok, not really, but i spoke with Tina today and her satellite internet is completely out due to bad weather. She just wanted to make sure her readers know that she is well, just unable to get online at the moment, but hopefully will be back online soon!

OH, and she hopes that everyone had wonderful holidays!

Merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! on, on Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of Toys, and St Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

For You Deer (Dear)

This is a gift card holder I made for Duke; got him a Visa gift card so he can get a new pair of shoes. He sure goes through 'em!

The image stamps are from PTI; Turning a New Leaf and Masculine Motifs. The woodgrain background is from All Night Media. Hopefully it's masculine enough even with all the little frills I added. LOL Had to add that jingle bell, no holiday card seems complete without one these days!

Thenkfully, I have the day off today. We have a few last minute things to take care of later today, then we'll impatiently wait for Santa. Cody is beyond excited and it's contagious!

HB2U Banner

I finally had a chance to break out the Banner Builder dies as I needed to make a birthday card for my friend Tricia. It's her birthday today! Happy Birthday Tricia!!

The alphas are from My Favorite Things- Wendy and Banner Strip Mini; both perfectly sized for banners. I just punched them out using a 3/4" circle punch.

It has been relatively quiet at work, very nice when you're filing and taking care of year end stuff. Plus, I want to get several things ready for my crew; media kits, sales sheets, renewal reports, etc.

The Good Life, SSSC97

I made a gift certificate holder using this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch, SSSC97; I normally cringe when I see a non-standard card shape. I paired it with some beloved Cosmo Cricket papers as well as a quote from Paper Makeup Stamps. The stamped snowflakes are from Snow Happy, one of my most used sets.

Inside is a gift certificate for a spa pedicure for Cody. He has been begging for one forever and always tries to join me for mine (not that I have had one in a while). So, I decided it was time to treat him to the "good life". Now, I have my fingers crossed that he doesn't bug the fire out of me until he gets an appointment. LOL

Life's Chaos

I went with another super simple layout for this quick card, minimally embellished too. The word art is from Paper Makeup Stamps, the size I used just happens to be on sale at the moment!

I was able to snag it just in time for the holidays when life seems to be at its most chaotic; at least in my home. LOL And, it's easy to appreciate the chaos when it's over.

I can hardly believe there are only a few short days before Christmas, I don't know where all the time has gone. Every year seems to go by faster and faster, it's remarkable. We're having a quiet Christmas morning and then heading over to Duke's son's home for dinner and company. It should be a fun time.

Cody has stopped believing in Santa, much to my dismay; but I guess it can't last forever. I did, however, reiterate to him the spirit of Santa and Christmas. We've had a rough year, but still have sooooo much to be thankful for. I am looking forward to the new year and hope it brings the renewal and prosperity we need, not only as individuals but as a family as well.

Silver Bells and Viva la Verve

I totally loved the simple sketch for the 3rd December Viva la Verve challenge. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it too, which is always a pleasant surprise. The theme for this month's challenges is Ornaments and Winter Decor. I have really been inspired by the traditional colors of the season this year- red, green, and silver.

I used two Verve sets, Floral Symphony and Wishful Elegance. The shiny silver pearls are from Pizzazz Aplenty. I really need to pick up loads more, they are my absolute favorites!

I then just wrapped some twine around the panel and knotted on a silver bell before tying my bow.

It was great to be near my supplies again, I spent four days away during the bad weather. So glad I found a few minutes to get inky.

Treat Trio

I made about 6 sets of these boxes for co-workers and their children. The unfortunate thing is that it was last minute and I didn't snap a photo before they left my home. Thankfully, my friend Bex came through for me. *the kids had already been into them, so they aren't lying flat- so forgive the photo.

I got the template for these boxes at MFT, Poppin Petal Treat Trio. They were easy to cut and assemble and they look oh so cute! I then just embellished the box with lots of dies!

I am still at my folks' home, hoping to go home tonight. A friend that lives out my way said the roads are still too slushy and it would be near impossible to get back up my mountain. I could probably get home, but would have to walk up the drive. Uhhh.....I don't think so! LOL

So, here's wishing the temperatures rise and melt everything off.

Much Appreciated Mojo

I was able to make this card toward the end of my snow day on Monday. I used some October Afternoon papers and the Mojo169 sketch.

I used a variety of stamps from PTI; Background Basics: Woodgrain, Background Basics: Damask Designs, and Fillable Frames. I also used a few of their dies- the butterfly, fillable frames, and flag. I really need to organize my dies, they are out of control in my current method of a pencil cup. LOL I have trouble remembering some of the names of them.

Lastly, I added some pearls to the sentiment and to the center of the butterfly.

Sunny Merry Christmas

I pulled out some scrap papers, not so traditional for Christmas, but pretty nonetheless. I also used the sketch from The Sweet Stop, SSS86.

Again, I used A Wreath for All Seasons; the set is just so versatile. It helps that it's just perfect for this time of year.

On my snow day, I managed to bake two loaves of Italian Bread and start a Sourdough Bread. It was too cold to be outside and with 6 inches of snow, the best thing to do was be busy inside. I didn't feel like cleaning-LOL- so I started baking instead.

Later in the day, I found that our washer quit working on the spin cycle. I was able to research it on the internet and we had to order a part to fix it. Now, here's hoping we're smart enough to do it ourselves.

The Happy Holidays

I was thrilled to be able to combine a couple more challenges this week. For this card, it was the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge, SSSC96 and the Color Throwdown, CTD122.

All stamps are from PTI, Turning a New Leaf, A Wreath for All Seasons, and Background Basics: Text II.

I think the only non-obvious thing is the embossing on the text cardstock; I used an ornament embossing folder.

Verve-y Curtain Call

Well, I got a call from my boss at about 7pm last night letting me know we have a SNOW DAY today. Woot! And, although there is plenty of work to do, I am thankful that they think of our safety in times of bad weather. *crossing my fingers I can find some craft time. I am soooo far behind on my posts.

The sketch for this week's Viva la Verve challenge is super fabulous. As always, you are provided a sketch and inspiration; the inspiration this month is Ornaments and Winter Decor.

I also combined this challenge with the Curtain Call Color Challege: Act 60. I've mentioned before how much color challenges scare me, but ironically, there are a few that I know exactly what I will do with them. This was one of those times.

Leaf fronds were punched from olive and celery cardstocks and then glued onto the circular cardstock base to make the wreath. Once they were dry, I added some gems and pearls. Finally, it was mounted onto a nesties oval.

The two image panels behind the main image were stamped with a background from Bountiful Backgrounds and the leaf cluster from Dream Big, then I overstamped them with a polka dot border from Bountiful Backgrounds in white. This tones down the color while adding another layer of interest. It kinda looks like snow.

Inspirational Makeup for the Weekend

It's Friday! That means we have a new Makeup for the Weekend challenge. I am the hostess this week and I have an inpiration challenge for you. Here is the photo I chose to get your juices flowing:

The fabrics look so pretty lined up together, don't they? I sure wish I could sew, but I am extremely challenged in that area.

I decided to make a paper quilt with BG Kioshi papers, they are a nice match for the fabrics in the photo. Once I had my squares lined up onto a thin white cardstock, I used the Top Note die to cut it out. I then cut around the dotted edge and matted it with black cardstock for a little punch.

I added some sparkle to the ornamant die with Scor-Tape and Dazzling Diamonds, super shimmer (although it doesn't seem very visible from the photo). The sentiment from Snow Happy adorns the smaller ornament very nicely. They are attached to the card using some lilac twine.

I think this rounds out my Christmas card stash, I have a whopping 11 made. LOL Since I don't send many out anymore, this will probably be enough. I might have to squeeze a few more in, but those will be either tags or small cards, not full-size ones.

I would love it if you could play along this week. You don't have to use PMS Stamps to play, but if you have them we love to see them. Just use the keyword M4TW52 when you upload to your blog or public gallery, then link it up to the PMS blog so that we can take a look see.

Dreaming in Green

For the first December Viva la Verve challenge, we were given a sketch and the inspiration of ornaments and winter decor. I used up some lovely green paper from My Mind's Eye along with an ornament die. I punched up the color by adding the dark red flag strip along the middle.

The sentiment is from Dream Big, one of my favorite sets from Verve. The font configuration is so dreamy.

Early to Rise

I had some October Afternoon papers on my table and just scattered them on my card, gotta use those scraps! The stamps are from Taylored Expressions, Let's Do Coffee. I just love the coffee bag image and that mug is adorable too.

I am getting ready to cut, cut, cut some boxes with my Cricut to package coffee/ cocoa packets and little sides for some of the staff at work. I've decided to do mostly food gifts, it's so much easier than all that shopping.

PMS December Fan Club Blog Hop

This month, in lieu of a Release Day blog hop, the Makeup Artists will be hopping with customers and fans of PMS. Going forward, we'll be having releases every other month, and hopping in the off months. This gives us all a little time to use our new stamps a bit before even newer ones are released AND gives our customers and friends an opportunity to join in the blog hop fun!

If you have arrived here from Carma's blog, you are right on track. If not, you can start here to see everything from the beginning.

This month is all about anything winter and winter holidays. Well, you don't get more winter than snowflakes and snowmen! I adore snowmen stamps.

I used Snow Happy which seems to be my go-to set this season. This is the smallest snowman in the set and around him on the card are some of the snowflakes from the set. I love the variety in sizes and styles. Some shiny silver pearls finishes it off.

Katie is giving away a grab bag of stamps to one random commenter, so leave comments along the way to increase your chances of winning.

Now, hop over to see my sweet friend Tangii, I know she has something fabulous to show you.

Curtain Call Challenge: Act 59

I found this week's Curtain Call Color Challenge with some fun colors, I normally struggle with color challenges, but this time I knew exactly how to use them. I then looked for an appropriate sketch, using Mojo165 this time.

I grabbed A Wreath for All Seasons and Damask Designs from PTI and got to work. The wreath was decorated with pearls and gems from Pizzazz Aplenty.

I embossed the soft stone cardstock (don't have basic gray) with a Cuttlebug embossing folder; the damask strip was stamped into red cardstock using burgundy ink, it just helped it stand out.

It'll Be Okay

Cards with this image are so well received, especially when accompanied by a coffee gift card. I have a friend who could use a cuppa and a hug; sure wish I was closer to her.

Anyway, Miss You a Latte is one of my favorite gals at MFT. Here, I paired her with some delish and homey papers from October Afternoon, some of my favorite patterns too. The pearls are from Pizzazz Aplenty, shiny silver to be exact.

A Happy World

The days where you can stay in your jammies are some of my perfect days! This lil sweetie is a new fave, Pure Innocence Nap Time. I've paired her with some lovely MME papers with some fun colors and patterns. This paper also has some texture to it, a nice, heavy weight.

I am so ready for the weekend. Things are really hectic at work and I am about to reach my capacity for handling all the "stuff".

Being Cute, MTSC101

I managed to make another card for Mercy's sketch, MTSC101. I used a PI Girl, Being Cute is What I Do since the image panel was a bit long. I {heart} these PI Girls!

The papers are a mix-up of October Afternoon and BoBunny. I love the blue script and, of course, yellow and blue are a classic color combo. The rolled flower was cut using a die of the same name; leaves are from the Flower Trio die. I just added some shimmerz to the flower and leaves once they were adhered to the card.
